Checked mongrel_rails_service drafts
Ok, I have checked in the first draft of rails win32 service into examples mongrel_rails_service is the controller, and the _svc script is actually the service. The controller uses Mongrel Commands as requested by Zed, but the service was simplified for debugging purposes, later will merge and refactor both files. The environment defaults to production, so if wanted to run it on other, you must

Temporary win32 gems up.
Hey, I did some pre-compiled gems for both Mongrel and win32 service, wrote some quick instructions, and threw everything onto a (Mongrel hosted) temp site. Please go hit: http://zedshaw.homelinux.org:3000/files/win32_howto.html And give the instructions a shot. Luis should have the stuff moved around and then we''ll have a nice clean install and set of instructions for all this. Any

Port of --prefix to mongrel-service
This patch: - adds --prefix option to service::install in mongrel-service plugin - fixes bug with config values merging in the service - enables gemplugins in the service. Questions: - why the load_plugins command was commented out? It seems working for me. - why bin/mongrel_rails_service and bin/mongrel_rails_svc still in the main package? - a lot of code is duplicated in both versions

using mongrel on port 80
Just so you know, I''ve read the manual :) http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/choosing_deployment.html No php or ssl needed - that is me - simple. So I should be good to go but thought I''d ask. BTW, sorry about the stupid subject. Listening to BNL, you know ;) On 6/27/06, mongrel-users-request at rubyforge.org <mongrel-users-request at rubyforge.org> wrote: > Send

Mongrel Service 0.3.0, native services for you!
Hi folks, For the past weeks I have been working in solve the problems with mongrel_service and its *crazy* behavior related to standard mongrel_rails. Job made this more slow than usual, but here we are: a beta release. * What''s New? - This version of mongrel_service replaces mongrel_service ruby script with a binary, pre-built executable coded using ServiceFB framework [1] in

Test out the upcoming plugins stuff for me
Hi folks, I''ve been working on the plugins system this weekend and I think I''ve nailed it down. The system will basically be able to load gems that are configured right to be plugins. It''ll do it fairly dynamically and shouldn''t require any configuration from the end user other than to install the gem. Doing this though will involve a bit of surgery on the

Windows Server 2003 - Cygwin - Apache 2.0 - Rails 1.2.3 -- httpd.so "permission denied" (Luis Lavena)
Thank you very much Luis. After re-installing Mongrel and related gems and selecting "Ruby" rather than "win32", mongrel appears to be working fine! > Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2007 23:30:14 -0300 > From: "Luis Lavena" <luislavena at gmail.com> > > Hi Randy, > > It seems you''re using ruby from cygwin, and not mswin32 (wich is > one-click

autospec is not picking latest changes
Hey Guys. I just updated a project form 1.1.4 that was working with autotest 3.10 without issues: 1) Updated spec/model/project_spec.rb and it fired only that spec. 2) Updated app/model/project.rb and it fired only the matching spec file. After the update of rspec and rspec-rails as plugins a few minutes ago, it only run the controller specs and no other. Also, it doesn''t matter which

no log/mongrel.log file on win32, looking for suggestions...
Hello Mongrels around the world! Been thinking a way to unify the issue I described in the subject. For those who aren''t aware, mongrel (actually, mongrel_rails) only generate the log file if daemonize was used (-d) That means no log file under windows, due his lack of fork/daemonization capabilities. Now, users that need to run mongrel on windows cannot report and fill the empty

Graceful stop in, timeouts out (for now)
Hey Luis, Just implemented the first cut at a graceful stop setup. It seems to mostly work except for a few hicups here and there which I''ll test out. I''ve tested this under OSX and will test on the other platforms soon. To use it take a look at the examples/simpletest.rb and see how I setup an "INT" handler to call HttpServer.stop. Hopefully this will help with

Mongrel as Win32 service for a camping app?
As subject line, basically... http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/win32.html describes how to install Service support for Mongrel on Win32. But it seems to be focussed on providing a way of running Rails apps. If it is possible at all, can you provide hints or refer to documentation that explains how to run apps that use other frameworks, like Camping, as Services please? Is it written up online,

Win32 gems for mongrel (0.3.18) and mongrel_service (0.3.1)
Hello Users!, Since the pre-release 0.3.18 (last week) Lot of things happen in ruby-land (check the DoS security bulletin, please). Anyway, the win32 folks being left on the side of the road, and cannot provide feedback of stability due lack of binaries for the latest releases. So, I managed to upload the pre-built gem to my host: http://www.mmediasys.com/releases/mongrel-0.3.18-mswin32.gem

Mongrel Service won''t start on windows
64bit Intel 8 CPU server Windows 2003 Server Service set to run as LocalSystem, doesn''t work as user account either The error we see is: "Service failed to start in a timely..." win32-service weirdness
I''ve got my application running under Windows with mongrel perfectly, so it was time to convert it to a service. service::install works fine, but service:start gives me some "One moment, start pending" and then lots of "One moment, stopped". After a bit of digging I found this in the service.log: ** Starting Mongrel in production mode at :3000 ** Starting Rails in

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.12.4 -- Relaxed Parser, Date Fix
Hello Everyone, Just a small announcement for Mongrel 0.3.12.4 which fixes the following things: * Corrects the date format returned so that months are three chars only. * Fixes a problem where DirHandler wasn''t returning Last-Modified and Etag headers for unknown MIME types. * Implements a default mime type for anything it doesn''t know about, and lets you set it via an

0.3.7 release this weekend
I''m doing another 0.3.7 release this weekend which will roll in changes from Luis for the win32 service, and some enhancements to the mongrel_rails Unix runner which makes it behave better with switchtower. There''s also a new document on setting up a proxy with lighttpd to do simple clustering on the site: http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/lighttpd.html I''ll be
