Version 1.1.2 CHM Documentation File
I finally got around to compiling the Rails 1.1.2 Documentation into a CHM file this morning. You can download the file directly from here: http://delynnberry.com/files/rails-documentation-1-1-2.chm. Let me know if you encounter any problems with the file. -- DeLynn Berry delynn@gmail.com http://delynnberry.com

How to set up help browser?
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for setting up the standard Windows help browser? I have an app with extensive on-line help, but the help browser only comes up with the one intro page. The various tabs are there, but they don't do anything.... --Yan

FYI -> Linux chm viewer
I found the best chm viewer I've used yet on Linux. It's an add on for Firefox 3. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3235 You can't shell to it. You have to use a Firefox menu Item, after installation. It displayed flawlessly some chm files that none of the others I've tried could handle. Maybe this will give the developers another angle to try instead of the current

wine and windows help
I'm trying to determine if it's possible to use the help system of windows applications running under wine and what I might need to do before it works. I just started using wine again after a long hiatus. I only run one application under wine, xmlspy. I'd like to get its help system working under wine. If I select anything from the help menu nothing happens right now. Is it supported?

Windows help (winhlp32)
Is there a way of getting an application to use the Windows native winhlp32.exe? Although I've replaced the exe in c:\windows and c:\windows\system32 my application (Borland Paradox7) still invokes the Wine help (which is broken as it doesn't display the Contents and Search and is full of 'not yet implemented' messages). So I assume the DDI call from Paradox is being routed to

using chm help files under linux
Hi, Chm (compiled help) is a microsoft invention. It's the default help system under windows, but not so under linux. I found that (at times) I like better how chm help looks. Since there are chm viewers under linux, using chm help files should be possible. Has anybody tried to set R so it opens chm by default? I'm sure there's some flag or Rprofile var that could get this done.

Viewing .CHM files with hh.exe from command line
I would like to be able to start the Wine .chm file-viewer, C:\windows\hh.exe, from the command-line like this: wine hh.exe /some/dir/somefile.chm It works if the current directory contains the .chm file, but not if I have to specify a path. Am I missing something?

HtmlHelp in Wine
Hi, All! I've tried to invoke a command (using Wine-0.9.5) "wine hh document.chm" and received a message that a Mozilla Active X control is needed, and then this control was downloaded from source.wineHQ.org (Mozilla ActiveX Control v1.7.12) and installed. I've installed Mozilla-1.7, too. And nevertheless, the command "wine hh document.chm" produces a message about a

configure help
Hello, as I just spent a (too long) while searching for a way how to persistantly switch back the help display routines from chm to text, here a small documentation how to do that with the windows version of R. The windows installer asks which help type you want to use, I wanted to test the chm version -- which I didn't like. If you after installation want to switch back, you have to edit

Strange behaviour of start menu entry
Hi, I installed a program which also adds a start menu entry for viewing a HTMLHelp file. But there is some error, the HTMLHelp viewer within Wine is launched, the content pane to the left is displayed, but no text appears to the right. So I wanted to use kchmviewer instead. I manually edited the call in the start menu entry to use kchmviewer instead. I tested this call on the command line, it

problem installing packages from source on win2k
Dear R-helpers, I'm having trouble compiling R packages from source on Win2K. I installed R 1.7.1beta [1] on my win2k machine [2], downloaded the fields package as source [3] and tried but failed to install the package [4]. I get the same problem with other packages, so it doesn't appear to be limited to fields. Installation of precompiled packages seems to work fine. I've been

trouble with chm files
Hi, I have been trying to configure Wine to associate kchmviewer with chm files in hopes of having kchmviewer launch whenever I push a help button within SkyTools 3 (http://www.skyhound.com). I am running Wine 1.3.18 under Ubuntu 10.10 on an amd64 machine. I followed the instructions in the Wine FAQ at http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-91bf3f0a8ccbfab8dee96f82fae2f1a489e0d243 and have tried

CHM help not working
I'm a Windows (non C++) software developer and I'm wanting my software to run under Wine as best as possible. My app uses CHM help files which are displayed in Windows when pressing F1 or clicking Help on the menu, but it does not work under Wine on Linux. It does absolutely nothing. Is see there are CHM viewers available but Wine does not seem to use them. Any suggestions? Thanks,

problem building first package
Hi, I am trying to build a package from source for the first time. I'm using Windows XP. After R CMD INSTALL or R CMD check I get an error message that I don't understand. I've tried to follow the instrucions provided in the R Installation and Administration .pdf and the text file that comes with Rtools, but most of this is new to me and clearly I'm missing something. Here's
