Directory and File Perms
I have a directory shared out via Samba for Quickbooks and seem to have some issues with permissions. The directory being shared is a subdirectory in an ext3 partition being mounted with the acl option. It has been setup as follows: chown root:DOMAIN\AD_Group /mnt/Intuit_Data/ chmod 2770 /mnt/Intuit_Data/ And the Samba share config is has: create mask = 0660 directory mask =

Quickbooks and Samba and Oplocks... OH MY
It is widely known that Quickbooks has a horrible storage engine, "requires" Windows to host multiuser access, etc. However, I've successfully been storing QuickBooks files on Samba shares at a handful of locations with no real issues other than slight performance degradation. However, a somewhat recent thread here mentioned the proper use of oplock'ing in the Samba configuration

Quickbooks IE 6 requirement
I've installed quickbooks 06/07 under Ubuntu 810 using Wine 1.1.4. I've also installed IE6 using the ies4linux tool. I can start IE6, but when I start Quickbooks through wine I get this error: 'This version of QuickBooks requires Mircosoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later). Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 from your QuickBooks CD-ROM, or get information on obtaining Microsoft

oplocks, QuickBooks (Samba 3)
Hi there, Can somebody please explain to me why Samba 3 requires 'oplocks = no' on shares for programs like Quickbooks to operate properly with multiple users, where Samba 2 didn't? Without this option, Quickbooks will complain about file corruption when a second user tries to open a file. This option, however, makes the particular share that the option is present in _very_ slow

Domain Users cannot use quickbooks
Hi all; the other day we tried to get ambitious and get the office onto a samba domain. Things were fine, but our quickbooks users could not use quickbooks because they were domain restricted users and needed to be domain standard users. Anyone have any help on how to get the users in question to be power users? Mike hillyer

Quickbooks 8.1 lockup
Using Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.1.3 Application is Quickbooks 8.1. I have succesfully run this app in 7.04 with older wine version. I'm finding that the menu's with arrow up & down seem to crash Quickbooks and wine. Not using the arrows but when you go all the way to the top or bottom. A restart is then needed to get Quickbooks to open up again. Any ideas? As I say this worked great

Quickbooks under WINE
I am trying to convince my father to run his business on Linux, but all his accounting is done under Intuit's Quickbooks. Does anyone have any experience of running the aforesaid? Quickbooks Pro 2003 installed will not run
This is my first attempt at using wine and crossover. I want to run two applications Quicken Premier 2003 and Quickbooks Pro 2003. I first tried installing with just wine, wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm, and ran into immediate install failures with Quicken. So I down loaded crossover's trial version and have installed both applications. Quicken seems to be completely functional, did see

Quickbooks Pro 2001
I moved a Quickbooks Pro file to our Samba server (v 2.0.7) during an effort to centralize some stuff in our organization. Before moving the file to the samba server it was shared from a users NT Workstation. I don't consider this a viable long term solution. Anyway ... here it goes with my problem report .... :-) So I moved the Quickbooks file to the Samba server, setup an Accounting share

Seeking help with Samba shares & OPLOCKS & Quickbooks databases
I thought I had things figured out, but guess not. I have multi-user Quickbooks databases that functioned fine on a Novell server but are behaving badly on a Samba share. I have created a separate share for the Quickbook databases, users are running Win XP Pro, latest patches, and the Quickbooks application installed on the desktop. It is a multiuser version. Server is RedHat ES 3, Samba

Quickbooks and Wine

CodeWeavers apparantly has Quickbooks running (unsupported) under CrossOver Office 1.2. (Quicken running supported, for what *that* is worth...) Codeweavers puts its code back into Wine; the only thing they don't is anything

Quickbooks Pro 2000 on Win4Lin
Has anyone been able to make the Quickbooks Delivery Agent work under Win4Lin? I find that it slows the system down to a crawl and it never completes it's task. Removing the Delivery Agent is not a great solution because Quickbooks won't perform certain functions, like writing a paycheck, without it. Has anyone tried Quickbooks Pro 2001 under Win4Lin? does it work any better? Thanks,

Quickbooks Pro works on Corel Wine
Quickbooks Pro works Purrrrrfectly on Corel Wine. It looks good, works good and prints good. The only caveat is that when it is running, you cannot launch Wordperfect as well - it is an either or situation. Cheers, Herman http://www.AerospaceSoftware.com Aerospace Software Ltd. Can't write QuickBooks file to Samba share
On a server that has been running smoothly since it was setup, and with no changes to configurations or network or anything, users cannot save a shared QuickBooks file. they have been regularly using, updating and saving to this file for a few months. All users are able to create and update other files in the same share. I have not confirmed if they are able to create and update new QuickBooks

Debian Sarge (testing), Samba 3.0 RC4 and Quickbooks
Debian and Samba Teams: I'm having a really weird problem with Samba 3.0Beta2+RC4 on my Debian Sarge (testing) system with Quickbooks Pro 2002 multi-user version. The version of my question is: Does anybody know what the proper global, share, and permissions settings should be to support multi-user Quickbooks on a Samba share? The Long Version: The Quickbooks data-file resides on it's
