system unresponsive after issuing a zpool attach
Today I attempted to upgrade to S10_U2 and migrate some mirrored UFS SVM partitions to ZFS. I used Live Upgrade to migrate from U1 to U2 and that went without a hitch on my SunBlade 2000. And the initial conversion of one side of the UFS mirrors to a ZFS pool and subsequent data migration went fine. However, when I attempted to attach the second side mirrors as a mirror of the ZFS pool, all

zfs boot - U6 kernel patch breaks sparc boot
Hi, in preparation to try zfs boot on sparc I installed all recent patches incl. feature patches comming from s10s_u3wos_10 and after reboot finally 137137-09 (still having everything on UFS). Now it doesn''t boot at anymore: ############################### Sun Fire V240, No Keyboard Copyright 2006 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved. OpenBoot 4.22.23, 2048 MB memory installed,

zpool detach on non-mirrored drive
I''m using zfs not to have access to a fail-safe backed up system, but to easily manage my file system. I would like to be able to, as I buy new harddrives, just to be able to replace the old ones. I''m very environmentally concious, so I don''t want to leave old drives in there to consume power as they''ve already been replaced by larger ones. However, ZFS

problems mirroring a disk
i'm trying to use rsync to mirror my server boot volume to another disk of the same size (120gb) on the same machine: % sudo rsync -avxuH --delete --progress /./ /volumes/cbc.server2/ although all of the files from the source volume appear to copy to the destination, if i try to boot from the destination volume the system doesn't recognize it as a bootable disk. anyone have any

"no pool_props" for OpenSolaris 2009.06 with old SPARC hardware
Hi, yesterday evening I tried to upgrade my Ultra 60 to 2009.06 from SXCE snv_98. I can''t use AI Installer because OpenPROM is version 3.27. So I built IPS from source, then created a zpool on a spare drive and installed OS 2006.06 on it To make the disk bootable I used: installboot -F zfs /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/zfs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 using the executable from my new

backup and restore of ZFS root disk using DVD driveand DAT tape drive
Dear all, given a DVD drive and DAT Tape Drive, and using Solaris 10 U7 (5/09), how can we plan for a total backup of ZFS root disk and procedure to recover that? Previously using UFS, we just need to use boot from Solaris OS DVD media, also using ufsdump, ufsrestore and installboot. Anybody can point me on how to achieve the same thing when the whole system disk are busted? Thanks in

Best Practices recommendation on x4200
Greetings all- I have a new X4200 that I''m getting ready to deploy. It has four 146 GB SAS drives. I''d like to setup the box for maximum redundancy on the data stored on these drives. Unfortunately, it looks like ZFS boot/root aren''t really options at this time. The LSI Logic controller in this box only supports either a RAID0 array with all four disks, or a RAID 1

readable dendrograms with many units
Using Mathematica, I've performed a hierarchical clustering of 3,107 U. S. counties based on 1995-2000 intercounty migration, using an algorithm of my own devising (see http://arxiv.org/abs/0807.1550). I can also generate the associated 3,107 x 3,107 matrix of ultrametric distances. Unfortunately, as far as I have been able to determine, the Mathematica hierarchical clustering package only

Upgrading from a single disk.
Suppose I have a single ZFS pool on a single disk; I want to upgrade the system to use two different, larger disks and I want to mirror. Can I do something like: - I start with disk #0 - add mirror on disk #1 (resilver) - replace first disk (#0) with disk #2 (resilver) Casper

Basic Network Connections
Hi, If I have these fragments in a domain definition, the guest will start with "eth0" assigned by dhcp to an address on my lan. Things seem to work according to the documentation I can find. <network> <name>direct-macvtap</name> <forward mode='bridge'> <interface dev='eth0' /> </forward> </network>

Dovecot won't stay running
This weekend I upgraded my OS from FC4 to FC6. At the same time I updated Dovecot from 0.99 to 1.0.0. Now, dovecot periodically shuts off. It will run fine for several hours then just dies. Right now my solution is to run a cron every 5 minutes to see if it?s still running, and if not, re-start it. I?m also having trouble finding any sort of meaningful logs to tell me what?s going on. Error with dbcheck after upgrade to 4.10.2
Hi Louis and others, While I cannot speak for the GP, I've had this same problem since I recently (finally!) upgraded to Samba 4.8 (4.8.11). In fact, the very reason I wanted to run dbcheck for was to confirm that Samba still works correctly after upgrading (it does seem to replicate normally, anyway).[1] I've configured Samba with the following switches: --enable-debug --enable-selftest

Securing private file area
I''m building an application for a company that has thousands of clients, and for each client there will a set of documents that are private to that client. Rails makes it easy, of course, to show the list of documents on a per-client basis, using acts_as_authenticated and using current_user as part of the find any time a document list is displayed. The part for which I''m looking

ZFS root clone problem
(for some reason I cannot find my original thread..so I''m reposting it) I am trying to move my data off of a 40gb 3.5" drive to a 40gb 2.5" drive. This is in a Netra running Solaris 10. Originally what I did was: zpool attach -f rpool c0t0d0 c0t2d0. Then I did an installboot on c0t2d0s0. Didnt work. I was not able to boot from my second drive (c0t2d0). I cannot remember

dovecot under attack
Hi, I?ve posted this before but no one was able to help. I can?t figure out what they are trying to do, and if I should be concerned. I am running dovecot version 0.99.14 on Fedora Core 4. It appears that my dovecot server is under attack. This morning in my system e-mail I saw this: dovecot: Authentication Failures: rhost= : 23431 Time(s)
