Thanks for the input Blair Zajac and Chris (Nolan and Hall), and for others. If all of you have time, please follow this (the question still relates to the previous posts by me): I have provided full steps to reproduce the symptoms. If it matters, I''m running Ruby 1.8.2, Rails 1.0, and MySQL 5.0.15 on Windows XP Professional. 1. First, the setup MySQL ----- create database testdb;

validates_presence_of *_id attributes
Hi all, I am a newbie to Rails. Please enlighten me on how to do this appropriately, the Rails and the Ruby way: Suppose I have a Recipe model. Let''s simplify things and pretend that it has only 2 attributes, a :name and the other is a ''category_id''. In the recipes table, category_id is a foreign key to field id of table categories. We also assume that I have generate

slow to drill into directories
I have a samba server configured at a clients office and sometimes when he is drilling down into directories in his "File Explorer" it stalls. I tail'ed the log files and I ran tcpdump, but I can't see anything that stands out. What should I look at? I am running Samba Version 2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian. brian -- Brian Lavender http://www.brie.com/brian/

Samba 3.0 beta 3 issues
Hi there, I'm using Samba 3.0 beta 3 on RH 9 (connecting to a Windows 2000 domain, as a member server) and I'm having trouble keeping samba running reliably. At random times it seems to stop recognising names from the domain. Restarting winbind fixes the problem, but then it occurs randomly again, usually once or twice a day. At least once it has fixed itself after being broken overnight

Is there such a thing as button_to_remote?
I''ve changed my destructive link_to statements in favor of button_to. But what if I want to make an .rjs call with that button? Seems like we need something equivalent to link_to_remote, so that the button can make an ajax request instead submitting the form. Or am I missing the point entirely? RJS opener.reload()
Hello, I have a problem with RJS. I have a popup and by pressing a button within it I want to: 1. close this popup, which functions fine with onClick in the view and 2. reload the opener page of the popup after the called action in the controller is done. I tried: render :update do |page| page.opener.location.reload() end in the controller, but this didn''t work. Can anyone

configure: sense of --enable-utmpx test et al. reversed
it seems that --enable-utmpx and friends have the effect of disabling the corresponding feature (i.e., #define-ing DISABLE_UTMPX etc.), which leads to the (perhaps not so) obvious breakage of UseLogin on Solaris etc. For the less anal (or reformed anal) configure-r who leaves these unspecified, everything is OK i'd suggest changes to configure.in, but i'm blissfully ignorant of autoconf.

NV01_MAPPING_SYSTEM et al
Does anyone know what is the difference between all the memory objects? I've encountered 0x003d, 0x003e, 0x0040, 0x0041, and even 0x0070 (on G80). According to renouveau.xml these are NV01_MEMORY_LOCAL_BANKED, NV01_MAPPING_SYSTEM, and so on. But what do they actually do? What separates one kind of memory from the other? Looking for a place to host zytor.com et al
Hi everyone, I'm looking to move terminus.zytor.com, the server that hosts among many other things http://syslinux.zytor.com/ somewhere else on fairly short notice. Unfortunately my home network connection is a cable modem with dynamic IP and a "no servers" (sigh) policy, so that won't quite work. If you happen to have available or know of a place in the San Jose,

Cisco, Codecs, Sip Phones et al
I am loving Asterisk! I have a Cisco 7960 (Sip) on which I want to try using g729 encoding. I cannot find a setting for this in the phone's interactive screen menu. Do I set it in the sip.conf file? I have also ordered 2 licenses from Digium. My understanding is that because this Cisco phone can handle the encoding, * just passes it thru. Is this correct? Also, I am using LiveVoip for

Hi all, I'm just wondering about these VoIP services -- do you have to sign up one account -per- client that will be using the service? I've got multiple extensions behind my Asterisk box, and I want to be able to allow all my staff to place calls via the provider. So if I sign up for one account, will multiple users behind my Asterisk box be able to make calls, using that same
