Nexenta: "load_mib2nut: using pw mib" package / config / or firewall problem?
G'day I'm currently using NUT on Debian squeeze box in the same subnet with an IBM 3000 HV (branded Eaton 5125 with Web/SNMP card), now I wanted to get our storage appliance running NexentaStor 3.1 set up to be using NUT too. Nexenta- Stor is an OpenSolaris / illumos-based appliance OS currently using NUT packages from ubuntu hardy. My question here is whether I'm running into a -

kernel: blk_cloned_rq_check_limits: over max segments limit., Device Mapper Multipath, iBFT, iSCSI COMSTAR
Hi, WARNING: Long post ahead I have an issue when starting multipathd. The kernel complains about "blk_cloned_rq_check_limits: over max segments limit". The server in question is configured for KVM hosting. It boots via iBFT to an iSCSI volume. Target is COMSTAR and underlying that is a ZFS volume (100GB). The server also has two infiniband cards providing four (4) more paths over SRP

Comstar and ESXi
Hello all, I am running an OpenSolaris server running 06/09. I installed comstar and enabled it. I have an ESXi 4.0 server connecting to Comstar via iscsi on its own switch. (There are two esxi servers), both of which do this regardless of whether one is on or off. The error I see is on esxi "Lost connectivity to storage device naa.600144f030bc450000004a9806980003. Upgrading a volume from iscsitgt to COMSTAR
Hi, I have a zfs volume that''s exported via iscsi for my wife''s Mac to use for Time Machine. I''ve just built a new machine to house my "big" pool, and installed build 129 on it. I''d like to start using COMSTAR for exporting the iscsi targets, rather than the older iscsi infrastructure. I''ve seen quite a few tutorials on how to use

Ubuntu iSCSI install to COMSTAR zfs volume Howto
I apologize if this has been covered before. I have not seen a blow-by-blow installation guide for Ubuntu onto an iSCSI target. The install guides I have seen assume that you can make a target visible to all, which is a problem if you want multiple iSCSI installations on the same COMSTAR target. During install Ubuntu generates three random initiators and you have to deal with them to get things

Kernel panic on ZFS import - how do I recover?
I posted this on the www.nexentastor.org forums, but no answer so far, so I apologize if you are seeing this twice. I am also engaged with nexenta support, but was hoping to get some additional insights here. I am running nexenta 3.0.3 community edition, based on 134. The box crashed yesterday, and goes into a reboot loop (kernel panic) when trying to import my data pool, screenshot attached.

opensolaris COMSTAR io stats
Hi all, Using "old" way of sharing volumes over iscsi in zfs (zfs set shareiscsi=on) i can see i/o stats per iscsi volume running a command iscsitadm show stats -I 1 volume. However i couldn''t find something similar in new framework, comstar. Probably i''m missing something, so if anyone has some tips please share it :) Thanks in advance, Bruno -------------- next part

NexentaStor 3.0.3 vs OpenSolaris - Patches more up to date?
I see in NexentaStor''s announcement of Community Edition 3.0.3 they mention some backported patches in this release. Aside from their management features / UI what is the core OS difference if we move to Nexenta from OpenSolaris b134? These DeDup bugs are my main frustration - if a staff member does a rm * in a directory with dedup you can take down the whole storage server - all with

ZFS volume turned into a socket - any way to restore data?
I have recently upgraded from NexentaStor 2 to NexentaStor 3 and somehow one of my volumes got corrupted. Its showing up as a socket. Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to get my data back? It seems like it''s still there, but not recognized as a folder. I ran zpool scrub, but it came back clean. Attached is the output of #zdb data/rt 2.0K sr-xr-xr-x 17 root root 17 Jul

dedicated ZIL/L2ARC
We are looking into the possibility of adding a dedicated ZIL and/or L2ARC devices to our pool. We are looking into getting 4 ? 32GB Intel X25-E SSD drives. Would this be a good solution to slow write speeds? We are currently sharing out different slices of the pool to windows servers using comstar and fibrechannel. We are currently getting around 300MB/sec performance with 70-100% disk busy.

Are there (non-Sun/Oracle) vendors selling OpenSolaris/ZFS based NAS Hardware?
I''ve seen the Nexenta and EON webpages, but I''m not looking to build my own. Is there anything out there I can just buy? -Kyle

Which zfs options are replicated
Hello list, I started playing aroud with Comstar in snv_134. In snv_116 version of ZFS, a new hidden property for the Comstar MetaData has been intoduced (stmf_sbd_lu). This makes it possible to migrate from legacy (iscsi target daemon) to Comstar without data loss, which is great. Before this property you always lost the first 64k of your zvol data where comstar wrote it''s metadata -
