MySQL THD via PID Provider
I want to go a lot deeper with my tracing of MySQL and to do so I want to look into MySQL Thread Descriptors (class THD). Inside is a great bulk of information utilized by a great many of the core functions within MySQL... I really want to get in there. So far I''ve had no luck though. It''s a C++ class, and I''m afraid that I''m approaching it like a C struct,

NFSv3 and File operation scripts
Howdy, I wrote a pair of scripts to measure file and NFSv3 operations, and thought I would share them with the folks on the list. You can view the script output by pointing your browser at the following URLs: Per Process NFSv3 Client statistics (inspired by fsstat/nfsstat): http://daemons.net/~matty/code/nfsclientstats.pl.txt Per Process File Operations (inspired by fsstat):

Cross Platform Mixers and LibAO
Hello Vorbis Developers. I'm in the proccess of writing an OggVorbis audio player using libao and libvorbisfile. I've greatly appreciated the simplicity of the API and good documentation with the souce of the libraries. I've descided that I really want a mixer on my player, and I'm unsure how to best go about it. LibAO (unless I'm absolutely blind) doesn't

ARCSTAT Kstat Definitions
Would someone "in the know" be willing to write up (preferably blog) definitive definitions/explanations of all the arcstats provided via kstat? I''m struggling with proper interpretation of certain values, namely "p", "memory_throttle_count", and the mru/mfu+ghost hit vs demand/prefetch hit counters. I think I''ve got it figured out, but

snapdir visable recursively throughout a dataset
Is there an existing RFE for, what I''ll wrongly call, "recursively visable snapshots"? That is, .zfs in directories other than the dataset root. Frankly, I don''t need it available in all directories, although it''d be nice, but I do have a need for making it visiable 1 dir down from the dataset root. The problem is that while ZFS and Zones work smoothly

Adding a mirror to an existing single disk zpool
Hello All, I''m transitioning data off my old UFS partitions onto ZFS. I don''t have a lot of duplicate space so I created a zpool, rsync''ed the data from UFS to the ZFS mount and then repartitioned the UFS drive to have partitions that match the cylinder count of the ZFS. The idea here is that once the data is over I wipe out UFS and then attach that partition to the

RESOLVED - RE: Ext3 problems possibly plauging me
Thank you to all who replied. I am very happy (for you guys anyway) to report that this was NOT infact caused by ext3, but rather a very very untimely memory failure that occured during my convertion from ext2 to ext3. It turned out that one of my PC2100 DDRs went south, and I'll be contacting Crucial to deal with that. Thanx again for all the help. benr. -----Original Message-----

FBT Provider
Is there a list anywhere of the DTrace FBT provider calls for each version of Solaris since the Nevada build that hosed the DTrace Toolkit. I have no issue with rewriting what I need, but I am hoping to stave off having to look at all the source code to find everything. I know there is a new provider under development, but I need to be able to program DTrace routines for all the updates in

Occasional storm of xcalls on segkmem_zio_free
So I have this dual 16-core Opteron Dell R715 with 128G of RAM attached to a SuperMicro disk enclosure with 45 2TB Toshiba SAS drives (via two LSI 9200 controllers and MPxIO) running OpenIndiana 151a4 and I''m occasionally seeing a storm of xcalls on one of the 32 VCPUs (>100000 xcalls a second). The machine is pretty much idle, only receiving a bunch of multicast video streams and

The cpc provider cometh
Hi, Finally, the long promised CPU performance counter provider has arrived into Nevada build 109! For those that need an injection of excitement at the start of the week, you can check out some usage examples on my blog: http://blogs.sun.com/jonh/entry/finally_dtrace_meets_the_cpu Also, you can find a new section for the provider in the DTrace docs:
