Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies? The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

[LLVMdev] Assertion: replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type! being thrown all of a sudden
Hello, I wonder if someone would know what is going on below. All of a sudden I’m getting this assertion thrown: Assertion failed: (New->getType() == getType() && "replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type!"), function replaceAllUsesWith, file /Users/meister/Development/externals-clasp/llvm36/lib/IR/Value.cpp, line 345. [LLVMdev] Assertion: replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type! being thrown all of a sudden
I forgot to mention this in my initial email. The build of LLVM that I was using was commit a0d5d7aed8e177cea381b3d054d80c212ece9f2c The date on the commit is: Date: Fri Sep 26 12:34:06 2014 Also: Today I grabbed the ToT llvm/clang/clang-extra-tools and I’m working on getting my code to be compatible with it. I can switch back and forth between the current ToT llvm and the old one. Thanks,

ZFS and Oracle asynchronous I/O
We have an Oracle 10.2.0.3 installation on a Sun T2000 logical domain. The virtual disk has a ZFS file system. When we try to create a tablespace we get these errors: WARNING: aiowait timed out 1 times WARNING: aiowait timed out 2 times WARNING: aiowait timed out 3 times ... Does disk_asynch_io = false need to be set with ZFS? This page:

io provider and files in a forceddirectio mounted filesystem
The following script is used as a first attempt to discover IO patterns in a dbase setup: #------------------------------------------------------------------ #pragma D option dynvarsize=128m dtrace:::BEGIN { } pid$target::kaio:entry { self->doit = 1; } pid$target::_aiodone:return { self->doit = 0; } io:::start /self->doit || execname == "oracle"/ {

dtrace missing ''unlinkat''? showing process stack?
everyone, Just out of curiosity, I did a dtrace -n ''syscall:::entry { @num[execname, probefunc] = count(); }'' and looked at the entries produced by ''rm''. I see everything that rm did, *except* the unlinkat - which is unfortunate because I want to trace which processes have deleted which files. So - does dtrace contain unlinkat as a probe for a system call?

[PATCH 0/9] tools: remove or disable old/useless/unused/unmainted stuff
depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *
