any recommendations for handling a non autoincrement primary key
Hey everyone,
I''m working on an application that has a table with a nice natural primary
key. Outside of the rails world it would be *the* primary key.
I would prefer to use this natural primary key and define associations that
use it. I''ve done so but the problem is that my form for entering a record
in this table is currently failing. I''ve used

Foreign keys not showing!
I''m new at this so please be patient.
I have a very simple schema consisting of a around 10 tables in
Postgresql. The aim is to provide a system for PC administrators to
keep track of PC''s dotted around various venues (shops, libraries
etc.). The sort of info I want to store is PC specs, PC network specs,
PC ownership specs, PC location specs and contact person details. So I

Help about CMS - newbie in RoR
Hi team, I''m a very newbie RoR user from Spain and I''m developing a
blog''s CMS. Why RoR?, coz I think it''s an amazing framework with many
posibilities, portable and really powerful, with a young and optimist
community, and taking my project I''ve prefered his structure in front of
LAMP. Another thing is that I''ve liked to surprise my masters

Could someone explain this
http://blog.leetsoft.com/articles/2005/10/31/scoped-databases
in a way that can be understood with an example if possible. Tobi Lutke

"Since rails 0.13.1 we support calling class methods over associations."

Trouble combining :has_many, :finder_sql and :conditions to create a sub-search
I''m sure there''s something right under my nose that I''m missing. I
have two tables with two parallel one-to-many relationships. I wish to
use the :finder_sql parameter to essentially ''or'' the two foreign
keys.
What isn''t working for me is performing a ''sub-search''.
Let''s say the tables are "stores" and

has_one / HABTM relationship overlap - please advise
1. I have a few tables: ''users'', ''shops'', ''addresses'', and ''pictures''.
2. Users and Shops will both use the addresses and pictures tables. I have
created several mapping tables:
addresses_shops
pictures_shops
addresses_users
pictures_users
3. Users CAN have many addresses and pictures (simple HABTM), but...
