Extra sheet after printing a job
At the end of a print job in my hp930c paralell printer in my samba-server (Suse Linux 8.0), an extra (blank) sheet is ejected. How can I correct this ?? [LLVMdev] RFC: More AVX Experience
Ok, so I've been chugging away at AVX and added some new features in TableGen to facilitate writing generic patterns. Beginner needs help !
Hello everybody. I am not new to linux but new to wine. I run Fedora Core 4. I tried various rpms for wine (from fedora extras, from newrpms.sunsite.dk, and from winehq), with always the same conclusion : I am unable to run anything, even winecfg. [wec@wec-vero ~]$ winecfg wine: creating configuration directory '/home/wec/.wine'... No error message, but no window opens :-(( I can get

How to Install and share a printer in SAMBA/SUSE 8.0 ??
I need a tutorial or a step-by-step routine to install and share printers (local and/or remote) in my "Suse 8.0 Pro" server using SAMBA. I've tried some configurations without full success. The best one prints the job but ejects an extra blank sheet (do you remember me now?). So I decided to install it again from the beginning. Thanks for your attention Best regards? ? Gilberto

MySQL access
I?ve installed by Webmin a MySQL database in my Suse Linux 8.0. I?ve already created tables, inserted new data, exclude or edited any record on it but in Webmin admin module. How can I access this database from a windows workstation? I?ve tried to establish ODBC connection supplied by MySQL but it seems don?t find any connection. self-written function
Dear all, I?ve got a simple self-written function to calculate the mean + s.e. from arcsine-transformed data: backsin<-function(x,y,...){ backtransf<-list() backtransf$back<-((sin(x[x!="NA"]))^2)*100 backtransf$mback<-tapply(backtransf$back,y[x!="NA"],mean)

links named after their own text
I remember there was a way to unclog links named after their own name, like [link][], and have links written just [link] parsed as long as there was a [link]: definition somewhere, but I don't seem to find where this tweak was described. Is it still valid?

Markdown-Discuss Digest, Vol 48, Issue 13
It was a very useful feature for e-mail parsing and I miss it. I use PHP Markdown extra to send multipart alternative e-mail, and the short syntax [link] instead of [link][] is very clean and lean. Do you plan to implement it anymore? Or is there a tweak to get the present PHP Markdown Extra to parse [links] as [links][]? BTW I did not find mention of this in

minimize white space around lattice plot
Dear list, I'm trying to produce a plot via xyplot with minimal sourounding white space. However, I cannot find the options in xyplot, ps.options or wherever which prevents lattice from drawing quite some white space around my plot. However, this is quite a problem for me as I want to produce an inset plot inside another lattice-plot. I'm using the panel function to open a viewport and

Desynced DC
I'd try to rejoin the faulty DC instead of copying sam.ldb files. I guess there are unique DC specific entries in the local database. Can be samba-tool replicate works if you try the push the settings from an other dc or pull em on the faulty dc. What command did you try andn on what dc? Uh.. .. poweroff. ;-) And then cleanup the AD-DB and DNS old records. Dns tool and Domain user andn computer mananger shows all you need. This is because, not many records where shown in you ad-db. Lattice fails to draw insets
Hello all lattice experts! I'm currently trying to plot inset figures in my lattice graphics. The plot is composed out of two panels and in each panel I want to show an inset figure which is a closeup of the data in each panel. Thus in each panel I call xyplot again to plot the inset which I place in a grid viewport. Nevertheless, once my first inset plot is drawn, lattice aborts with an

Ternaryplot as an inset graph
Hello I am trying to add a ternary plot as a corner inset graph to a larger main ternary plot. I have successfully used add.scatter in the past for different kinds of plots but It doesn't seem to work for this particular function. It overlays the old plot rather than plotting as an inset. Here is a simple version of what I'm trying. Note that if I change the inset plot to be an ordinary

Plotting a legend outside the figure - units
Dear R gurus, I am trying to plot a legend in the margins of a figure. The basic idea is to have two (or more) plots on the same figure, but then to have a common legend at the bottom of the plot. The approach that I have taken is to setup the figures, then do a "dummy" plot of the legend to determine the height of the legend box (ie from the value returned by the legend() command). I

Align legend title
Dear R developers, I needed to align the title of legend for some of my plots. If there is interest to include this into base R, bellow are the examples and the relevent diffs.
