SYSLINUX 3.73-pre1 (RC)
I have pushed out SYSLINUX 3.73-pre1. It only contains the build fixes that have accumulated since 3.72, and a version bump of gPXE to the equivalent of the 0.9.5 gPXE release. Given the number of people who have had build problems, I'm making this a release candidate, with the intent of pushing out 3.73 as a minor fixes release only. If you have the ability to test 3.73-pre1,

SYSLINUX 3.73-pre2 (release candidate)
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.73-pre2. This prerelease adds support for the fact that the ACPI 3 definition changes the E820 memory detection spec in an incompatible(!!!) manner. Please test it out, as I'd really like to push a 3.73 out as soon as possible. -hpa

SYSLINUX 3.73-pre3
I just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.73-pre3. The only significant difference over -pre2 was changing MEMDISK to use "safeint" by default. -hpa

SYSLINUX 3.73 released
Changes in 3.73: * Upgrade gPXE to release version 0.9.5. * Fix a number of build errors on various platforms. * Handle systems with E820 "extended attributes" per ACPI 3. Someone "cleverly" decided to change the E820 spec in a backwards-incompatible manner! * MEMDISK: default to "safeint". * Adopt the moniker "The Syslinux Project", standard

SYSLINUX 3.73 release imminent
I intend to release SYSLINUX 3.73-pre7 as SYSLINUX 3.73 as soon as possible. Please let me know if there are any outstanding bugs with 3.73-pre7 that either haven't been reported or I have forgotten about... it's been a while. -hpa

[PATCH] Activating FTP for gpxe on Syslinux 3.72-pre1
Could we just activate FTP on gpxe ? I did a trivial patch for enabling it on top of 3.72-pre1. Invalid or corrupt kernel image (pxelinux 3.72, kernel 2.6.28)
I'm trying to boot nfs-root kernel using pxe. Kernel version is 2.6.28, image size - 2.3MB. tftp server works fine. The curious part: if I type the kernel image name at "boot:" prompt, exactly as it appears on the "Loading" line, everything works as expected. Does anybody have any ideas what it could be? By the way, gpxelinux exhibits the same behavior.

SYSLINUX 3.72-pre7: getting close
I just uploaded SYSLINUX 3.72-pre7. I'm hoping this will be the final 3.72 prerelease. Please test it and holler if something is (still) broken. -hpa

SYSLINUX 3.72-pre2 released
Hi all, I just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.72-pre2. It has a rather cool new feature: a hack to ISOLINUX to create a single image which can be booted either from CD-ROM or from what BIOS considers a hard disk medium (USB keys, etc.) -hpa

Append line size limit in syslinux 3.72
Hi, Is there still a known limit of 255 characters of the append line in syslinux (isolinux) from the config file ? A quick test showed me that when the APPEND line in the config-file is longer than 255 characters it arrives truncated in Linux. While typing more than 255 characters on the commandline does not cause the same issue and in Linux the kernel commandline exceeds the 255 character

possible build problem with syslinux-3.72
Howdy, I just did a build on my CentOS 5.2 (x86_64) system and noticed the following error msg. I don't think this is a problem for me but I wanted the developers to be aware of it. Regards, and thanks for your time, George... make[1]: Leaving directory `/tools/pxelinux/syslinux-3.72/utils' ls -l version.gen version.h version.mk mbr/mbr.bin mbr/gptmbr.bin core/pxelinux.0

Issues compiling syslinux-3.72 on Linux 2.6.25(.19)
Howdy. I'm one of the maintainers of Astlinux (www.astlinux.org). We're updating the kernel from 2.6.20, to 2.6.25 (.19), and as such, some packages that previously compiled stopped doing so. We also went from syslinux-3.63 to syslinux-3.72, hoping that a newer version would be more amenable to a more recent kernel. No joy. We're cross-compiling on FC8 (updated) on an i386

isolinux.bin 3.72 question
We use "isolinux.bin" 3.72 and meet an issue : we put all the files(including config file, kernel and initrd file) under the root directory and some additional normal files in it. If adding enough files in the root directory, the created ISO will fail to boot, hanging at "ISOLINUX 3.72 3.72 ETCD Copyright (C) 1994-2008 H. Peter Anvin". Is this a known issue? Is it fixed in the

syslinux 3.72 fails where 3.71 didn't
I have written a bash script (see below) to generate bootable SD-USB images using syslinux as booter. The script works OK with versions 3.63 and 3.71, but I get a null pointer error executing /tmp/$SYSLINUX/linux/syslinux -sf -o 16384 SD.img in 3.72. If you execute $ sudo sh SDformat.sh sys then you can test the image easily with qemu $ qemu -hda SD.img ++++++ SDformat.sh

Linux syslinux-3.72 does not update boot block for SD devices
Hi all. I am new to the list. I am trying to make a SD flash bootable. I have a MSI Wind netbook running Fedora 9 with a built-in card reader that detects the SD flash properly. However, when I run syslinux, it does not update the boot block. I also tried using a SD -> USB adapter, but I get the same behavior. Fedora 9 uses an older syslinux 3.61, but I also tried the latest 3.72 with

SYSLINUX 3.72 released
Well, it has to happen at some point, so I have officially pushed out SYSLINUX 3.72. The big news in this release is of course the ISOLINUX hybrid mode support (a single image which can be booted either from a CD-ROM or from a hard disk/USB stick), but there are plenty of more goodies in here, including the label listing (not technically completion) on the Tab key. As usual, huge thanks to
