smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba
servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse"
is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount
command with a -k option, I can mount the share:
turgon at workhorse:~$ klist

Opinion wanted: metadata in HTTP requests
I'm thinking it might be an interesting idea to pass ipappend-style
metadata (and quite possibly additional information, e.g. obtained from
DMI) when making a http request, but I'm not 100% sure about the best
way to do it.
Options are pretty much:
1. some kind of metavariables in either the configuration file or in
the filename syntax.
+ very general.

Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
I've been at this for days, and making no headway. It's very
discouraging. I have a Win2003 domain, that has the Services for Unix
extensions installed. I am trying to have multiple Samba servers as
domain members. (in my case, one desktop sharing files, and one laptop,
accessing the shares). And at the moment, it doesn't (fully) work.
Each Samba server can see shares from the other.

Can USBstikA boot USBstkB ?!
PS. Since I've now only got a laptop, I mostly use TinyCore linux;
which is also sysylinx booted; and makes provision for
*THE SLOW REACTION TIME OF SOME USB DEVICES*;
which may be the subtle cause of my problem in trying to boot
a second USBdevice [other than the <boot device>].

Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
I am *still* unable to mount shares from a Ubuntu 10.04 server, using a
Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I totally re-formatted both my desktop and my
laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 (so that they would be using the same version
of Samba). I am using the exact same smb.conf for the 2 machines (less
the share definitions, which exist only on the desktop, known as
"workhorse"). wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g,

wbinfo -a fails plaintext auth; passes challenge/response
Once again, I am trying to add a machine to my Win2003 AD (that has
Services for Unix installed). I am using Xubuntu 9.10, and samba 3.4.0.
I set up Kerberos, and am getting a ticket. I have successfully joined
the domain.

Where's the formal syntax?
I've been using linux:TC from a USBstik in order to not break the M$ capability,
as previously always happened. Since TC runs in RAM, it has many extra
problems; like reinstalling all the apps and your private settings at each boot.
The sample isolinux.cfg which I've been emailed by the oficianado
is very unfamiliar and worrying. Where is the official syntax ?

Booting USBdeviceB [as root} from USBdeviceA:booter ?
My previous question: "can syslinux on a USBstik also boot installations
on other USB devices ?" got no proper reply, so I'm now including more
background detail.
The new problem is that my 32bit partition of ETHOberon, only gives
a proper font-size under Debian7:DVDinstaller:rescueMode, since I'm
forced to use a laptop, after my previous systems were stolen.

ISOLINUX versions 3.36 and 3.53 can't boot VIA EPIA CL Motherboard, version 3.31 can
Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu and have a problem with the ISOLINUX CDROM booter
with versions used since (K)Ubuntu 7.04.
The ISOLINUX booter versions 3.36 and 3.53 do not boot my motherboard.
The version shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 is I believe ISOLINUX 3.31 but
it displays for such a short time I could be wrong. I'm writing to
this mail list in case the original Ubuntu bug report never made it

Having problem with menu.c32 on serial console
Hi all:
I am running pxelinux 3.72 with the corresponding menu.c32.
I am setting up console access via:
serial 0 38400
console 0
The rest of the config file entries should be safe enough:
display pxelinux.cfg/helpfile
say . Type any key for manual boot. <F1> or <Ctrl-F> 1 for help
F1 pxelinux.cfg/helpfile
then the usual MENU/label commands.
When I use the same

menu.c32 works on serial console, but hdt.c32 displays on vga only.
Hello all:
I just downloaded and built syslinux-3.74-pre11 and installed it. I
set it to boot and run on the serial port/serial console and when I
switch to menu mode (by typing "menu" at the boot: prompt), it
works. In the older version I got the upper left corner of the dialog
box drawn and that was it. So that is terrific, thanks.
However when I am on the serial console and I run

menu.c32 changes the key binding in tera term confusing user
Hi all:
Well it looks like my declaration of having a working menu system was
a tad premature.
If I enter any of the submenu's using the enter key on my keyboard, it
selects (and runs) the first item on the submenu. If I type ^j
instead, it enters the menu and I can scroll through the options. If I
type ^M, it acts like I hit the enter key and runs the first menu
item.
Now in my terminal

Can USB:syslinux install another USBstik?
When a USBstiked-syslinux starts, it's the PC's firmare that's reading
the USB ?
But once the USBsyslinux takes over, has IT also got a USB driver?
Since my MotherBoard & 2009 Slackware built USBstik syslinux booter
were stolen I bought a <WinTel> laptop and USBextender to access my
old IDE & SATA disks.
With WinTel's new arrangement of not allowing the tail of the
