Problem with FreeDOS + himem64 + PXELINUX + memdisk
(FreeDOS developers, I apologize for the redundant parts of this message. But I want to bring the SYSLINUX folks into the discussion, and the SourceForge mailing list archives are broken.) Background: I have a little Sourceforge project (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/) for which I use SYSLINUX to provide CD-ROM and PXE boot support for my boot disk. And it works great with MS-DOS. However,

PXELINUX keeppxe mem footprint
Hi, I want to use PXELINUX to load a DOS disk image which I currently use for Win2K/XP unattended installs. I want to move away from reliance on specific NDIS2 drivers and use the 3Com UNDIS3C driver instead. I have used this successfully to start the MSClient, but the problem is that the UNDI and PXE layer take about 90K of base memory, which means that WINNT.EXE has insufficent memory to run

Re: WinME command.com
Hi.. Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into any bootable image and its really giving me problems.... I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME.. Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

Bug-report: Memdisk regression for XMGR DOS memory manager
For the boot floppy at http://superkeen.com/peacecorpsfiles/FUZOMA14.IMG using memdisk from syslinux version 3.72 boots correctly, but for memdisk versions newer than 3.72 (I tested 3.73, 3.75, 3.85, and 3.86) all hang at boot with the following message: Loading boot sector... booting FreeDOS kernel - SVN (build 2039 OEM:0xfd [compiled Oct 2 2009]) Kernel compatibility 6.22 - BORLANDC ... Problem with rsync on WinXP going to HP-UX or Linux
Hi, I can't get rsync from a PC to an HP-UX or Linux box to work, and am hoping for a pointer or two. I checked the FAQ and googled ... with no luck, so I hope this isn't a patently obvious newbie problem :) I just got interested in trying to use rsync to backup my WinXP PC to a Linux or HP-UX computer. I got the cygwin package from Robert Scholten's site at

OCFS 1.2.4 memory problems still?
I have a 2 node cluster of HP DL380G4s. These machines are attached via scsi to an external HP disk enclosure. They run 32bit RH AS 4.0 and OCFS 1.2.4, the latest release. They were upgraded from 1.2.3 only a few days after 1.2.4 was released. I had reported on the mailing list that my developers were happy, and things seemed faster. However, twice in that time, the cluster has gone down due

ElTorito.sys Scanning Strategy
Good day to all. Since we've adopted Gary Tong's and Bart Lagerweij's ElTorito.sys (now modified by H. Peter Anvin and tiny changes from myself), I'd appreciate if anyone with more El Torito experience might criticize my comments below and advise as to how they might be wrong. Some of it is off-topic GRUB4DOS detail; safe to ignore. A bit of history: FDUBCD ("FreeDOS

Problem with FreeDOS ke2034_32 + PXELINUX + memdisk
I am using FreeDOS kernel 2.0.34 with FAT32 support (ke2034_32), together with PXELINUX and memdisk from SYSLINUX 2.0.9-pre15. I am experiencing this problem on multiple test systems (Dell Precision 450 and IBM T22 so far). My pxelinux.cfg/default has these lines: label test kernel memdisk append initrd=test.img keeppxe ...which let me boot my 1.44M "test.img"
