syslinux timeout
Hi.
I've ever wondered how nuch timeis left to timeout while waiting at the
boot prompt, so I've writen this small patch to show it.
This add a configuration command 'showtimeout'.
If you like the patch I could improve it (for example to show the
timeout in decimal because now it uses the writehex functions)
Regards.

Graphic boot ...
Hi Peter and Group,
First, thanks for great boot system.
My goal is to create a boot process that is clean from any text
message and shows simple graphics at startup.
That graphic image will last until the X server is starting (with the
same background, might be with different resolution).
My reason is, that many end users prefer graphics on simple cryptic
text messages.
Messages will be

[LLVMdev] LowerDbgDeclare results in redeclaration of local variable
There was a patch committed the other day that should, at least, work
around some of the behavior you describe. Optimized debug info is an
area that's being worked on in ToT and previous releases are
particularly bad. I'd use that.

Could you try the following patch? Feel free to only apply the change
to readconfig.c if you want.

[LLVMdev] LowerDbgDeclare results in redeclaration of local variable
Hi Eric,
Thanks for patch information. I have checked the patch with my code and I see that it works.
But when I extract the variable and check the metadata information to retrieve the scope information,
I do not get exact scope, after optimization.
As you said that this is a work in progress, so can we expect full version on this in llvm3.3 release ?

Pankaj

[LLVMdev] LowerDbgDeclare results in redeclaration of local variable
Hi All,
Due to 'LowerDbgDeclare' call ( as part of 'instruction combining' optimization), a local variable gets declared and initialized inside the basic blocks it is used in.
Is there anyway I can avoid this ?
This is with reference with my previous question.

no echo patch
Hello,
pxelinux does not has any password protection,
unfortunately my Assembler skills are not that
good to extend pxelinux with a global password
option.
Nevertheless this feature is important, because
not every user should have the right to startup
an installation of a machine over network.
The following patch is only a dirty hack, but other
might find it usefull too.(so I post it here)

isolinux + cloop
Hi. I am trying to build a bootable linux CD using isolinux and a cloop
image. I am a bit lost right now.
What I have done is built a custom distro on a seperate partition on my
hard drive. I can boot to it with Grub no problem. I've added the
ioslinux directory with isolinux.bin, isolinux.cfg, a kernel (with
initrd, loopback, iso support), and an initrd file.
My next mission is to some

PXELINUX: suggestion for improvement
Hi,
We're planning to deploy PXELINUX as a primary kernel loader in cluster
environment. Problem is that we plan to have IP numbers assigned
dynamically while there is no guarantee that all machines has same CPU
architecture. This makes IP-based config search algorithm inappropriate
for our purposes because we [naturally] expect loaded kernel to match
hardware. For this reason I've

Bugs in pxelinux.asm - syslinux 3.75
In pxelinux.asm
the xchg instruction in
xchg ax,ax
.
data_on_top:
should be xchg ax,dx, I think
At the end of
pxe_get_cached_info routine,there is

jnz .err
It is supposed to test for AX status, but
since pxenv does pushad and popad, AX doesn't contain status. In fact
the other routines calling pxenv don't have this bug.

driver type for .vdi images?
Hello libvirt experts,
I use libvirt (0.7.5-5ubuntu27.7) with KVM / qemu (0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.2).
Some machines use raw images but same use Virtualbox images (.vdi).
Since last Ubuntu 10.04 LTS update I can not start the vdi-images.
The "driver name= type=" option was new.

Problems booting with memdisk, with fix
Hi,
We have a number of HP PC's which were refusing to netboot both floppy and
hard disk images with memdisk. Testing the problem under DOS for
simplicity, the cause was because the INT 13 AH=0 Disk Reset function call
is passed on to the BIOS by memdisk, and it appears that AMI's BIOS (V2.00)
returns with the carry set flag if there are no (physical) disks present.
This causes a failure

Syslinux-6.00-pre2
Hi folks,
There are enough changes on the 'firmware' branch to warrant another
prerelease. Things that jump out are the changes to update the current
working directory when executing syslinux.efi (previously .c32 failed to
load if installed to a non-standard directory such as /boot/syslinux,
because the current working directory wasn't correct), the realloc() fix
from Shao and a new
