article for consideration, Atheros 5007EG wireless card
I have a page where I document getting the increasingly popular AR5007EG Atheros wireless card working. (This is the card used in the Asus EEE PC). The current article covers several distributions, but would be modified to just cover CentOS. It does, however, involve getting third party software, as the rpmforge repos don't have the necessary drivers. (Apparently, it's a bit of a

Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki. The present article is located at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about using a non-stock kernel.

HP Network Printer Issue - Resend
I sent the following message back in June, but I must have missed the reply: I'm attempting to install and configure HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing) software on my CentOS 5.3 x86_64 system without success. I've got a HP Officejet Pro 8500 multi-function printer connected via ethernet. I'm getting a message saying that it cannot locate the libcups module

short vpnc article
Akemi-san has suggested that I turn the following post into a wiki article. (The article would be a bit better organized, since if one bothers to follow the thread, you'll see that I found that one can use the pcf2vpnc in Dag's rpm without worrying about having a plain text password.) http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18444&forum=38&post_id=67625 If

Sources for extras??
With invaluable help here, I've just gotten 6.0 onto a PC. I went through the listings in PackageKit, removing things I know I'll never use; ran yum update; installed Opera; went to the epel, rpmfusion, and one whose name slips my mind (It's a new name.); enabled them all; and tried to get a lot of my regular apps : [....] Setting up Install Process No package dillo

installing 32 bit vlc on Centos 5.5??
I'm in yum dependency hell using epel, rpmforge and rpmfusion repos to install vlc on 32 bit Centos 5.5. Anyone have a better idea? Doesn't really have to be vlc I just want to be able to play a dvd and Movie Player complains about missing plugins without saying what they are. How to back up a running KVM guest
Hi Please create a page on the wiki for a HowTo with the subject: "How to back up a running KVM guest" This will explain how to use LVM to take a snaphot of a KVM guest's virtual hard drive and rsync it to a remote backup server. I have a prototype running but there are still many issues to be resolved affecting performance, security, reliability, automation. I intend to

looking for a package
I'm trying to update a workstation, and it wants to update mpeg2-utils. But that has a dependency of libmpeg2-0.5.1-3, for i386. epel doesn't have it, and I tried looking on rpmfusion.org, and I can only find a very few packages there. Anyone have an idea which of the regular repositories carries libmpeg2? mark

Hard disk installation
Has anyone installed CentOS-6 from the hard disk? I just tried this without success. I should say that I asked the question before about CentOS-5.6, and while I got many suggestions in reply, no-one actually said that they _had_ installed CentOS this way. What I did was to "mount -o loop" the DVD iso (which I checksum-ed) and copy isolinux/vmlinuz and isolinux/initrd.img , as well as

CentOS 6: wpa_supplicant, unexpected behavior
On my CentOS 6: chkconfig --list wpa_supplicant shows off at all levels, which is confirmed by examination of: /etc/init.d/wpa_supplicant but ps -ef shows the process running. Furthermore, repeated cd /etc/init.d/ ./wpa_supplicant stop appears to succeed, but the process continues to run. These observations were made at levels 3 and 5. Thanks in advance for your explanation. Mike.
