VPNC article
I have put the article on the wiki at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/vpnc I wasn't sure where to put in the main table of contents. In the end, I put it under security, using the FreeBSD ports as an example. It could have also gone under Network. As far as its actual location, as you can see from the link above, I just put it directly under howtos. -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 (

What's the best bet for getting vpnc on v5.1? Compile from cource, DAG repo, other repo? Compiled from source I can't seem to get a response from the target. Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki. The present article is located at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about using a non-stock kernel.

Now I''m initializing them with some data. survey.rb q1 = Question.new "q1" q1.quote "Welcome to a test of the new interviewing system." q2 = Question.new "q2" q2.quote "Do you like pie?"

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
Hi everybody, I have been using Shorewall for quite a while now but I recently stumbled over a new setup that stopped me cold. I don''t know how to proceed: I have an ordinary GNU/Linux box (2.6.11) connected to a nonpublic network with one interface eth0 which gets an IP through DHCP like 172.17.x.y. Traffic is not routed to the Internet in this subnet. In order to connect to the

Hi all, I was just radomly playing with R and got the following error when trying to filter a data frame using a string: > Angel <- c(7,8,6,9,10) > Buffy <- c(8,9,4,9,10) > Firefly <- c(9,9,10,10,10) > DrHorrible <- c(10,9,9,10,10) > my.df <- data.frame(Angel, Buffy, Firefly, DrHorrible) > my.df["DrHorrible"] DrHorrible 1 10 2 9 3

functions applied to two vectors
Hi, I am very new to R, so I apologize if I have missed some trivial thing in the manuals/archives. I am trying to get rid of for loops in my code and replace them with R vector magic (with no success). Let's say I have 2 vectors of the same length: a <- c(2, 3, 7, 5) b <- c(4, 7, 8, 9) What I'd like to do is to generate a list(?) of 4 sequences using a[i] as a start indices, and

Acer laptops (and the snd_hda_intel module
Just a note for anyone doing a page on Acer laptops. I had put in my own page, and notice that someone had put in theirs as well, that though the module loads, sound doesn't work. It turns out that one can get sound working by downloading the latest alsa drivers. I've added a note to my page on the 4720z. The issue seems to be that CentOS uses an older version of alsa. (I also, of

CentOS on the Aspire One
The Aspire One is one of those netbooks that have become so popular recently. I've installed CentOS on the hard drive model, and have been considering doing a wiki article about it, and probably will unless there are strenuous objections. The objections might come from the fact that outside drivers are required for wireless, webcam, sound, and even wired ethernet. I have an article on my

shared hostings: how to compare/evaluate them (aka: "Rails needs a index")
Hi all, New offers for cheap Rails hosting keep popping-up at an increasing pace. - Are they any good? - Is this 60$/year plan good enough for me? - "Is DreamHost any good, despite the hundreds of accounts per server?" - Will plan Z support the load/traffic my client expect? - Is this 60$/month plan @ hoster X better than the 14$/month plan @ hoster Y - Why is

article for consideration, Atheros 5007EG wireless card
I have a page where I document getting the increasingly popular AR5007EG Atheros wireless card working. (This is the card used in the Asus EEE PC). The current article covers several distributions, but would be modified to just cover CentOS. It does, however, involve getting third party software, as the rpmforge repos don't have the necessary drivers. (Apparently, it's a bit of a
