anova on binomial LMER objects
Dear R users,
I have been having problems getting believable estimates from anova on a
model fit from lmer. I get the impression that F is being greatly
underestimated, as can be seen by running the example I have given below.
First an explanation of what I'm trying to do. I am trying to fit a glmm
with binomial errors to some data. The experiment involves 10

Problems with multiple samba servers on subnets
Hello,
we are in the process of moving from TAS to SAMBA, and as such are setting
up various servers. I have already successfully set-up and configured one
server running on Solaris 2.6 in a domain on an E10000. The problem we are
having is replacing other instances of TAS with SAMBA. We have so far
unsuccessfully tried to set up another SAMBA server on a Sparc1000 running
on the same subnet but

SSH and trademarks
Dear SSH community,
It has been brought to my attention that is has been disputed
whether the term "SSH" can be used freely as a term to describe
implementations compatible with the "SSH" protocols, due to trademark
issues. In particular, the owner of the "SSH" trademark argues that
implementations compatible with the "SSH" protocols shall no longer be

Still considering backup utilities
I hear that backuppc does *not* have a native *Doze client. On the other
hand, I know amanda's been around a long time, and it does. Opinions on

Nvidia Mod Update
Hey all,
On my X86-64 CentOS 6.6 machine I just ran yum update. In the update
was an upgrade from the 340.XX Nvidia package to the 346.XX package.
Hrmmm? I'm thinking this is not a good idea but, since this is just a
test system any way, I let it run. Sure enough I was right. Dmesg says
that my video is supported by the 340.XX driver, not the 346.XX driver.
 It's not happy cause it

SSH trademarks and the OpenSSH product name
Friends,
Sorry to write this to a developer mailing list. I have already
approached some OpenSSH/OpenBSD core members on this, including Markus
Friedl, Theo de Raadt, and Niels Provos, but they have chosen not to
bring the issue up on the mailing list. I am not aware of any other
forum where I would reach the OpenSSH developers, so I will post this
here.
As you know, I have been using the SSH

locate and omega: how to index file names?
hallo,
I'm indexing a filesystem using omindex, and users can query the
database via omega: everything works fine
now I'd like to add an option like "search files by name" and I'm
wondering how to do this
can omega search files by name directly? how should I build the query?
could I use scriptindex to index, eg., the locate database? how?
should I index file names

Regarding Trademark Dispute.
I received the following e-mail in response to an e-mail I had
sent to SSH communications questioning the wisdom of their
requesting OpenSSH to change it's name. Contained in the message
is that statement that SSH Communications did not exert their
trademark rights earlier becuase it's only recently that
OpenSSH has become more visible.
In the United States, this would invalidate the

TTSSH and the SSH trademark
Hi everyone. I want to point out some facts about TTSSH that may be
relevant to the claims of trademark infringement by OpenSSH. I'll confine
my opinions to another message :-).
I released my product, which has always been named "Teraterm SSH" and is
usually abbreviated to "TTSSH", to the public in May 1998. TTSSH is a free
software Windows client for the SSH1 protocol.

Xen is affected by the trademark desease
Hi folks
XenSource published a trademark policy[1]. I don't think we will be able
to follow it if we want to support installation of different versions at
the same time.
