installing updates in post kickstart
I can do a yum update in my post kickstart (which is what I am doing now actually). However, I want to save network time at installations. If I copy down the files from centos/5.3/updates/x86_64/RPMS and place them in a directory local on my network, can I just "rpm -U /mnt/directory/updates/x86_64/RPMS*" in my post section? Assuming I have nfs mounted the directory of course...

vcd package --- change layout of plot
Hello, I'm trying to use the vcd package to analyze survey data. Expert judges ranked possible features for product packaging. Seven features were listed, and 19 judges split between 2 cities ranked them. The following code (1) works, but the side-by-side plots for Cities PX, SF are shrunk too much. Stacking PX on top of SF would make for a better plot. (I could switch the order of

New 4.4 install PHP security concern
Hello everyone. I am an FC2 refugee that's been lurking for a while. I am finishing up a Centos 4.4 build and am going through looking at security issues. In running a nessus scan I am finding it complaining about the versions for php, php-ldap, php-mbstring and php-pear. The complaint indicates that a much newer version of this exists and specifically names php-5.0.4-4.centos4 (by

kickstart fails statically built custom kernel: anaconda doesn't honor static NIC/SATA driver in kernel?
Kickstart fails for statically built custom booting kernel, although the custom kernel is built form the same version stock kernel source. My anaconda and kernel source are both of stock versions on Centos 5. At the kickstart 'F3' screen, the following error messages appear: Modules to insert tg3 ... ... ERROR: no network devices in choose network device! ERROR: no network drivers

Anaconda kickstart laying out / randomly; ignoring --ondisk in part command
This problem occurred in both CentOS 5.2 and the new (awesome!) 5.3: I'm using a SuperMicro motherboard with a 6 port NVidia SATA controller on the motherboard and an 8 port SuperMicro Marvel controller in a slot. In my kickstart file, I have part raid.01 . --ondisk=sda . part raid.02 . --ondisk=sdb . part raid.03 . --ondisk=sdc . part raid.04 . --ondisk=sdd . . raid /

gpgcheck of rpms / anaconda / kickstart / composer install
Hi all, I wonder if the gpgchecks are done while installing a system via anaconda? Any experts here? I was playing with the livemedia-creator and had a 3rd party repo in my ks file. The packages were installed without any problems although having not any key in the rpm db imported. So that leads me to the assumption that the gpgchecks are not done. How to get the integrity check done?

Discrepancies in Anaconda-ks.cfg after kickstart
I am asking this here, that although a kickstart question, may have something to do with the Centos install? I took my Anaconda-ks.cfg from my system, turned it into a ks.cfg and did the install. Everything SEEMS ok, but why? First the partitioning information: ks.cfg supplied: clearpart --all --drives=hda part /boot --fstype ext3 --size=100 --ondisk=hda part / --fstype ext3 --start=14

unexpected 'reinitialize disk?' prompt form anaconda during kickstart with zerombr
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Anyone have any thoughts on why anaconda might be prompting me to reinitialize the disk during the kickstart of a Centos6.4 install on hyperV when a) the kickstart file contains "zerombr" as referred to in the installation guide[1] b) installation proceeds with no prompt on KVM hypervisors and succeeds? I have read the release notes[2]/tech

Kickstart putting /boot on sda2 (anaconda partition enumeration)?
Does anyone know how anaconda partitioning enumerates disk partitions when specified in kickstart? I quickly browsed through the anaconda installer source on github but didn't see the relevant bits. I'm using the centOS 6.10 anaconda installer. Somehow I am ending up with my swap partition on sda1, /boot on sda2, and root on sda3. for $REASONS I want /boot to be the partition #1 (sda1)

anaconda, kickstart, lvm over raid, logvol --grow, centos7 mystery
I am testing some kickstarts on ESXi virtual machine with pair of 16GB disks. Partitioning is lvm over raid. If i am using "logvol --grow i get "ValueError: not enough free space in volume group" Only workaround i can find is to add --maxsize=XXX where XXX is at least 640MB less than available. (10 extents or 320Mb per created logical volume) Following snippet is failing with

alternative to rocks cluster
Hi I am after a solution where i can easily kickstart many, read hundreds, of boxes in a short time frame. Perhaps the way i install software is to actually re-kix the box with a new software baseline - that type of idea. I have looked at rocks and it looks good but it seems a little rigid in that i need to be able to determine certain things like hostname etc as in our env hostname

anaconda/kickstart: bonding device not created as expected
Hi, I am currently struggling with the right way to configure a bonding device via kickstart (via PXE). I am installing servers which have "eno" network interfaces. Instead of the expected bonding device with two active slaves (bonding mode is balance-alb), I get a bonding device with only one active slave and an independent, non-bonded network device. Also the bonding device

[LLVMdev] Help adding the Bullet physics sdk benchmark to the LLVM test suite?
Hi, We are developing the open source Bullet physics engine, used by game and movie studios, and compiler performance tuning is important to us. See http://bullet.googlecode.com The physics engine includes collision detection, rigid body dynamics and soft body dynamics. I've been following the LLVM project for a while, and it seems the Clang C++ compiler is mature enough to compile our
