Help deciphering segfault in make check
Dear R Help,
I work with the Sage project, and we are trying to improve the ability
to use R through Sage. Most things work, but make check seems to
cause problems on certain platforms, and now that we want to upgrade
to 2.10.1 I thought we should ask for help!
R builds just fine on both Mac and Linux, but some things in make
check seem to break on certain Linux boxes that don't on Mac or

Deciphering an error message
Hello,
I'm working in spatstat and having difficulty with the ppp objects. I can get a ppp object for one set of data, but with the same code applied to a second data set (all I am changing is the field identifier), I get the following error message:
Error in switch(w$type, rectangle={: internal error: some total scores are neither 0 nor 1
Any thoughts on what this means and how to correct

deciphering objects.log
Howdy -- I''ve been tracking down mem leaks (oh, the fun...), and I think
there is a clue in objects.log. There are a few mentions of this file, but
usually Zed saying "look at this file and it will help you". Can anyone clue
me in to what the actual columns mean?

Data distribution not even between vdevs
Hi list,
My zfs write performance is poor and need your help.
I create zpool with 2 raidz1. When the space is to be used up, I add 2
another raidz1 to extend the zpool.
After some days, the zpool is almost full, I remove some old data.
But now, as show below, the first 2 raidz1 vdev usage is about 78% and the
last 2 raidz1 vdev usage is about 93%.
I have line in /etc/system

translateChar in NewName in bind.c
For the 2nd example, I say that R 3.4.1 result is acceptable, as names(c(x)) and names(x) are equal.
The change exposed by the 2nd example is in line with statement of the NEWS item corresponding to PR#17284: "c() and unlist() are now more efficient in constructing the names(.) of their return value, ...." However, currently, the NEWS item is for R-devel, not R 3.4.1 patched.

Very high cpu due to cups. Samba 3.5.2 ok though.
Hi,
We're seeing this at the moment. It's quite a beefy box and we can't
see any reason why cups is running so high:
4 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz
rpm -q cups
cups-1.3.7-11.el5_4.6
rpm -q samba3
samba3-3.5.2-43.el5
Samba is from sernet and is running with an OpenLDAP backend in full
domain mode with about 100 users and about 12 printers.

Mounting / as ext3 when ext3 is modularized in 2.4
Hello,
I recently switched from 2.2 to 2.4 kernel. Each partition already contains
a journal. I tried kernel-2.4.5-0.2.9 from RedHat Rawhide, where ext3/jbd is
modularized. For the people who want to try this kernel, you first need to
rebuild it, and enable CONFIG_JBD_DEBUG. This solves an unresolved symbol
in jbd.o which prevents ext3 to load. (This issue will be solved in next
RawHide)

Xapian Index 253 million documents = 704G
Xapian Index 253 million documents = 704G
I just build my largest single Xapian index with 253 million unique
documents on single server using single hard disk, less that 8G RAM
and single processor 2.0 GHz. I do not see any search performance
decreases in searching my indexes between 100 million and 250 million,
which indicates a good scalability of Xapian and it looks like, I can
push it easily

kvm guest ram
Hi,
On a 4gb 64 bit centos kvm guest per libvirt
<memory>4194304</memory>
<currentMemory>4194304</currentMemory>
but in dmesg of the guest I find
Memory: 4039712k/5242880k available (2592k kernel code, 154076k
reserved, 1653k data, 224k init)
Why is dmesg reporting 5g of ram ? Or am I reading wrong ?
How much memory on the Host is necessary on the kvm host for this

I've downloaded them files several times from different locations (suspected
my webgw might muck with the content) using different clients and the result
is the same:
$ gpg --verify ~/Downloads/cfe-3.8.1.src.tar.xz.sig
