we plan to setup our ORACLE database server (32 bits DB) and use dell r900 server. This server can put up to 128GB RAM. We are thinking use 32 bits CENTOS 4.7 or 5.2. I am building a new system which will have a pair of dual-core Opterons and 16GB memory. Should I use kernel-smp or kernel-hugemem? I see that RH recommends the hugemem kernel if you have more than 16GB (and we may upgrade at some point, the MB supports 32GB). Any comments on this? We are tried to count how many files belong to certain group. Our system administrator told us "non-owner" can easy change file group name to another. I have been tried several combination and never successful (only ROOT can change file group to other name). Does anyone know how "no-owner" can change file group name? Thanks.
