PowerEdge R510 with PERC H200/H700 with ZFS
Anyone have any experience with a R510 with the PERC H200/H700 controller
with ZFS?
My perception is that Dell doesn''t play well with OpenSolaris.
Thanks,

Kernel compiling troubles (ABI checking)
Hi, I'm having a problem compiling the kernel as a normal user (don't know
if not being root is the problem or not).
What is ABI? I can compile with the flag --without kabichk, but I don't
know if really is that the solution or not.
The package build stops at this point:
+ echo '**** kABI checking is enabled in kernel SPEC file. ****'
**** kABI checking is enabled in kernel

kmod-kvm for custom CentOS 5.5 kernel
Hello all!
I have actual need to build a custom kernel.(Have to change Preemption
model to 'server' and turn off Preempt the big kernel lock, ect) I have heard
bits and pieces about these changing defaults in newer kernels but I haven't
investigated that yet.
This of course is not a problem at all, made my needed changes to the source
code and successfully build both the standard

Problems with building a complete kernel
I have a plain vanilla Centos source (not 100% sure where we got it
from), but I can't seem to get a build that installs correctly.
I tried the method described at
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel, but rpm doesn't like the
output file, and even if I install it with -F, nothing seems to happen -
no new kernel, now initrd, nothing.
When I tried following the directions in the

XFS might be available for i686 from the CentOS Plus repository.
Hi,
the topic is an excerpt of the 5.4 release notes
and raises a question.
I have a i386 server here, that has been running for nearly two years
with xfs module from extras repo.
When lookin at the module it was build against 2.6.18-92.1.13.el5.
Question is, is it still safe to use this module with 5.4?
Or should I switch back to a CentosPlus kmod and an older kernel?

Alleged bug in Silk codec
Hi Jean-Marc,
well spotted! The patch provided fixes the issue for me.
Nevertheless, in my code (and I would suggest doing the same in libopus) I
am going to replace the function with one that accumulates on 64 bits and
then calculates the shift, for at least 4 reasons:
- It is less and simpler code
- The result is likely to be slightly more accurate in case big numbers

sampling from the unoform distrubuton over a convex hull
Dear list,
Does anyone have a suggestion (or better still) code for sampling from the uniform distribution over the convex hull of a set of points?
Many thanks and best wishes,

Concave Hull?
I am modeling a trend surface using trmat and want to trim the resulting matrix to the area enclosed by my real data (i.e., remove all the extrapolated areas). I was using chull and in.chull to calculate the convex hull and change all the other values created by trmat to NA. However, my real data has portions that are slightly concave so chull would give me slivers that are extrapolations from

Concave Hull
Dear Friends,
Here is an algorithm for finding concave hulls: http://get.dsi.uminho.pt/local/
Has anyone implemented such an algorithm in R?
RSiteSearch('concave hull') didn't reveal one (I think).

convex hull for cluster analysis
Dear R gurus and users,
I seem to have problem finding the right tool for plotting convex hulls over
2D plots, after a cluster analysis. In fact I would like to draw a convex hull
in 2D for a generic group of points. I found a "convhulln", but this doesn't seem
to give me a convex hull. Here is what I do:

Finding a 3D convex hull in R
Dear List Members,
I'm presently carrying out morphological analysis of a data set of neuronal
structures. These are essentially 3D binary trees. In due course I will be
trying to use discriminant analysis or other methods to classify these
neurons based on morphological variables such as total tree length, segment
number etc.
I would like to calculate a 3D convex hull for a set of X,Y,Z

MatchIt Package
Hi there dear R users!
Anyone knows why does matchit function returns error whenever the "hull" option is used (either "hull.both", "hull.control" or "hull.treat"). Things work well with all the rest of discard options.
This is the error msg.

drop zero slots from table?
I find myself doing
--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
tab <- table(...)
tab <- tab[tab > 0]
tab <- sort(tab,decreasing=TRUE)
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---
all the time.
I am wondering if the "drop 0" (and maybe even sort?) can be effected by
some magic argument to table() which I fail to discover

Finding convex hull?
Dear UseRs,
I would like to know which function is the most efficient in finding
convex hull of points in 3(or 2)-dimensional case?
Functions for finding convex hull is the following:
convex.hull (tripack), chull (grDevices), in.chull (sgeostat),
convhulln (geometry), convexhull.xy (spatstat), calcConvexHull
(PBSmapping).
I also would like to know if there is a function that can be used

multidimensional point.in.polygon??
Hi,
I seek to identify those points in/outside a multidimensional convex hull
(geometry::convhulln). Any suggestions?
Background just in case I'm going down a really wrong road:
Given an observed data set with one dependent/observed variable (Y) and
multiple (3 to 10) independent/design variables (X1, X2, ...) I want to
increase the number of points by interpolating. I'm using

Graphics API version mismatch with RSVGTipsDevice

I have been struggling with a problem and could not find a similar
previous posting in any of my searches, so I decided to write to the
