cdrecord issues
I have an issue with cdrecord though and I can't figure it out. I use Webmin, which basically just creates an iso and then uses cdrecord to burn it and it worked fine with previously installed CentOS 4 (I wiped and reinstalled about 8 months ago). This is the command that Webmin tries to execute... cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=4 -isosize \

How do I burn a CD image under CentOS?
Newbie question (again): I'm running CentOS 4.4 (2.6.9-42.0.8) and have not been able to burn an ISO image of a 3rd party driver to my CD burner. cdrecord generates this and I'm not sure where to go on this from here: $ cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord-Clone 2.01-dvd (--) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jrg Schilling Note: This version is an unofficial (modified) version with DVD support Note: and

ISO burning challenge -- pilgrims progress
First the Storix drive works just fine under DSL 4.2.1 on my Libretto. So the drive is fine, the media is fine. And cdrecord on DSL reports the media to be Manuf. index: 27 Manufacturee: Prodisc Technology Inc. I have all of ONE system with Centos 4 on it. A Trixbox 2.2; I added cdrecord and found that I could burn the iso image ONLY by including the -force option to get around the

SSH without password on CentOS 5 ?
Hi, I'd like to use SSH without password so I can use it in scripts (for example in combination with rsync to do backups). I have Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook" and I'm trying out the various receipts, but the one for SSH without a password doesn't work. The book is slightly dated, and I wonder if SSH included in CentOS works differently. Any suggestions? Niki

cdrecord Error (Permissions?)
List, Sorry to trouble anyone, a google on my error from k3b lead me to a permissions issue, but after searching through several of the links (including a few forums) I've failed to turn up exactly what the permissions should be or if that is even an accurate solution. When running k3b I get an error stating that cdrecord did not exit properly. And k3b will not burn a cd. Running cdrecord

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive
I just got a Dell Dimension e521 (AMD 64 x2, nVidia MCP51 chipset) and so far it has been fine. Today I tried to burn some CD-R and DVD-R disks and have been able to do nothing but make coasters. The drive is a TSST TS-H653a (Samsung OEM) and does have the current firmware. Playing back data, audio, and video disks work just fine, but recording is a different matter. The drive shows up as

Basic SAMBA setup
Hi, I want to setup a simple SAMBA file server, in its most simple configuration first, and then fine-tune that gradually. I've never worked with SAMBA before, so I based myself on Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook", chapter XX: SAMBA. Here's what I did, following the step-by-step instructions and reading the explanations as to what-does-what: # mkdir -m 777 /shares Rename

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had some success, in fact most of this usually works. I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but

Natulius CD burner does not accept my 700Mb CD-R disks
When I try to burn anything to cd, I get a message to insert a CD large enough for my file (normally an ISO image). Doesn't matter if the iso image is a 600Mb Centos ISO or a 48Mb DSL ISO. Same warning. My CD-Rs are Memorex 700MB/80min 52x disks that work just fine on XP systems. So what am I missing configuration-wise?

CD Burning with Wine?
Hello, I just got WINE running under FreeBSD and I was wondering if anyone has had success getting CD burning programs to work. Specifically, I would like to use CloneCD. I can use cdrecord / burncd to make data cd's and backups and the like, but a disk-at-once program is best (IMO) for copying audio cd's. And, unfortunately, there aren't any dao programs that support EIDE drives
