Mock and Mock again
Question: If I use mock to build package rpmA from tarballA but rpmA has a dependency that can only be satisfied by package rpmB which must also be built from tarballB then how does the rpmB built from the tarballB get pulled into mock when building rpmA? I am trying to build httpd-2.4.7 from Apache and that needs apr-devel and apr-util-devel > 1.4. I can build apr and apr-utils in mock but

Create Local CentOS 5.1 repo
I am trying to create a local base repo from the DVD on a webserver as I am not able to install with the x64 DVD. I have done this before I recall by placing the DVD contents in the root of an empty webserver, but I have many existing repo's on this current server and so I wanted to maintain the existing hierarchy structure. I tried using the createrepo command and neither that nor copying

Building a 64bit rpm
I want to build the 64bit version of Xen 3.2, they only show one srpm available. I assume if its compiled on a x86_64 version of CentOS 5.1 it will be a 64bit rpm when its done? I am aware its not good to build as root but out of curiosity, if I used a vm that I would later destroy, is the only caveat to building as root potential damage to the build system, or can the actual rpm be built

Virtualization in CentOS 6
I might be needing to utilize one of the provided virtualization packages either in a headless console only setup of CentOS or on my desktop. I havent used anything but ESXi in ages except virtualbox which I did not like at all. Most of the guests which I will need to run will be wnidows based and last I looked at this a few years ago, windows guests ran pathetic. What are some more current

RPM building tools for Samba 4.0.3 on RHEL 6 published bye me on Github
I've been spending some time backporting Samba 4.0.3 from Fedora 19 to RHEL 6, partly as proof of concept, partly to make it available to others. I've published my work at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba4repo/ The key RPM building tools are at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba-4.0.3-srpm/ And there are dependencies listed for libtalloc, libtevent,

R 3.4.0 RPMS
Dear Tom, I see that RPMS for R 3.4.0 are not successfully built on Fedora, nor on RHEL 7. https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=1230 When I build with mock on Fedora 25 I also get a build failure. R is not able to establish the time zone inside the chroot and this triggers a regression tests which is new in R 3.4.0. Specifically, in file tests/reg-tests-1d.R this test

xen4centos kernel version / debuginfo
Is there any problem moving to 4.9.31? This contains upstream commits f2e767bb5d6ee0d9 for mpt3sas and 69861e0a52f87333 for dom0 memory mappings. I am also trying to build a debuginfo package but it's not correct. Specifically I'm able to get vmlinux but the .debug files for modules are stripped, which isn't right. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm also not sure how

Anyone seeing mock breakage after updating to 4.4?
Morning, somehow the upgrade to 4.4 broke mock on my system: | [angenenr at shutdown SPECS]$mock -r c3-i386 /home/angenenr/redhat/SRPMS/apache-ssl-2.8.28-2el4.src.rpm | init | clean | prep | This may take a while | Could not find useradd in chroot, maybe the install failed? Nope, it's not the config_opts['chroot_setup_cmd'] = 'groupinstall build' issue, as I'm still

createrepo command for 6.4 respin
Hi List, I have been searching for the correct createrepo command to make a 6.4 respin. We have been doing this with previous versions using createrepo -u "media://$discinfo" -g ${DIR}/my_kickstart${VER}/comps.xml . Which had worked fine until now. yum repository and createrepo
I've setup a local yum repository for about 25 workstations and I'm using rsync from a local mirror. Do I need to create my own XML headers, i.e. the 'repodata' directory, or since I'm syncing the whole updates directory can I use the 'repodata' directory from the mirror? I also have a question on using createrepo. The directory layout is: ~/updates/

Creating a ''default'' mock
Am I correct in thinking that it''s not currently possible to have a method that creates a ''standard'' mock (i.e. a mock that has defaults useful in all contexts)? I''ve tried with the mock method and also by manually creating new Mock instances. I get failures when setting up expectations (undefined method ''receive'' for proc). Chris

Mock Shell Arch Command
I've successfully rebuilt Red Hat EL PHP 5.2.10 RPMs using mock on a CentOS 5.4 i386. I wanted to be able to build both x86_64 and i386 versions so I reinstalled my builder system with CentOS 5.4 x86_64. Now I can build the PHP RPM successful for x86_64, but i386 fails with the following during configure /usr/bin/net-snmp-config: line 43: net-snmp-config-x86_64: command not found For the

Mock config error

I have the following in the mock config template: [local-repo] name=my-Local baseurl=http://yumrepo.example.com/yum-repository/local/centos/8/x86_64/ failovermethod=priority skip_if_unavailable=False When I try to run mock I get the following error: (vgeppetto3 pts18) $ mock -v -r epel-8-x86_64
