Mic Plugged into sound card not working
Hey guys, I have a mic plugged into my sound card. It worked late last night but not today. When I try to select the mic using System/Preferences/Sound I'm provided with several options to choose from. On the Hardware tab I choose the Internal Audio device and set it to Analog Stereo Duplex. On the Input tab I choose Internal Audio Analog Stereo there are two Analog Microphone Inputs,

Cool Mic
I've been directing the development for a new Icecast 2.x source client for Android called "Cool Mic". It's designed to be simple and elegant with an easy to use interface. It uses the device's microphone to broadcast live audio in Ogg Vorbis format. It's come to the point in development where I'd like to ask for anyone interested in helping give feedback. All core

Cool Mic
Hi unosonic, Cool Mic's primary advantage to other source clients out there is that it streams in the patent-free, high quality Ogg Vorbis format (BroadcastMyself only supports MP3). We will be adding opus support in the future as well. Re: Feature requests: Re-connect sounds like the next feature that will be added :) Thank you. I am fairly certain you can already use a wired

Cool Mic v1.0.6 released (Icecast source client for Android)
I would like to announce the release of Cool Mic 1.0.6, an open source Icecast source client for Android. We have worked hard to implement some new features based on user feedback, such as auto-reconnect and manual input gain adjustment. We?ve also revamped our codebase to give better response, stability and room for future enhancements. For instance, we?ve separated the connection/streaming core

Cool Mic (Android source client for Icecast 2.x) update & Kickstarter
Hi Icecasters, I would like to share a Kickstarter page with you that will (with your help) fund publishing an open source, live-audio Icecast source client for Android called "Cool Mic". Please visit the page and watch the video for an idea of what we're going for with this. Our primary focus is to support livestreaming musicians and artists of all kinds but it can also be used as

Wireless Mic System
I have used several Shure systems, a few Sennheisers and a few AudioTechnica systems. Do not expect any of these systems, even the highest end, to be anywhere as reliable as a wired mic. As the years went on, I generally moved higher and higher end to try to weed out problems I had with units that were due to design or unit flaws. I've been out of the biz for a few years now (since my kids

Cool Mic (Android source client) released
Hi all, I'm proud to announce Cool Mic's availability in the Google Play store (Public Beta / "Early Access"). Cool Mic is a 100% open source Icecast source client for Android that streams live audio from your microphone / mic-in jack using open codecs (Ogg/Opus, Ogg/Vorbis). Cool Mic has many interesting and useful features which I think are worth a look. Google Play:

Encoding from mic (linux) question
How much work would be involved to encode audio from the microphone? LiveIce, for instance uses a FIFO, opens the sound card, reads from the soundcard, and calls lame(or some other encoder) on the buffer. I'd like to be able to vorbis-encode from the mic, and send the encoded stream to an IP. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

stopping amd causes a freeze
Occasionally stopping amd freezes my system. It's a rare occurrence, and I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it. It's also a real freeze, so there's no way to get into the debugger or grab a core dump. I only can perform the 4 seconds hard shutdown to revive the system. I run amd through sysutils/automounter, which is a scripting solution that generates an amd.map file

Winecfg does not notice my headphones - only mic (USB Headset) / No 'Mixer Devices' in Alsa - only OSS
Hi, I've been struggling to get everything going fine for a while now. Finally I can talk clearly and hear people. Problem is it was coming through my speakers connected to an external USB Sound Card; if I set it to come through my USB Headset, it comes through speakers anyway. I unplugged USB sound card and restarted computer. Now I tried again. This time I simply do not hear sound.

Re: aec
This is a very real problem though.. I've encountered many sound cards that use different clocks for input and output (even on the same card!) Also, if you open up a sound device on windows at 8kHz, the microphone is often around 8100Hz, while the output is 8000Hz.. I'm not sure if there's a bug somewhere in some of the OS resampling algorithms, but I've seen that on many machines.

Re: aec
Thanks for taking a look. There was no motion; however you are right about sampling from a different card. The speaker is connected to the Sound Blaster card, while the microphone is part of a USB webcam. I don't think that this is likely to be too unusual a configuration among users. I can retry the test using a sound card microphone to see if there is a difference. If it turns out that

Re: aec
I wasn't implying that anyone do anything about it, just that's it a real problem. Unfortunately, most of the crappy sound cards are the ones that ship with your typical PC, so it's just something that people should be aware of. The solution is pretty straightforward -- just resample the audio data in real time using a reference clock. -----Original Message----- From: Jean-Marc

[headset/mic] Volume too low + echo in *
Hello, I'm having the following problem when using a headset on XP connected to an on-board Realtek soundcard on an AsusTek M2N68-AM Plus motherboard: - Using any sound recorder (Windows', Audacity, XLite), the level is just too low when speaking at a conversational level, even with the microphone level pumped all the way up (line displayed totally flat in Recorder)
