mysql frontend for linux.
Hi list. I''m using Ubuntu distro. for rails development. Today, to my disappoint, I''ve found that there''re certainly almost no mysql frontend which runs very well. I'm running into problems trying to use the nls function to fit the some data. I'm invoking nls using nls(s~k/(a+r)^b, start=list(k=1, a=13, b=0.59)) but I get errors indicating that the step has been reduced below the minimum step size or an inifinity is generated in numericDeriv. I've tried to use a variety of starting values for a, b, k but get similar errors. Is there

OK, details: I run RH8 (gcc 3.2.something), RH9 (gcc 3.2.2-5) and Fedora. Problems are the same across all setups. Hardware is Athlon 1600+ and half a giga RAM. Runs fail with an assertion when the linear scan allocator is enabled, but runs without problems otherwise. Actually in my project, the unit collection is a mixture of diphones and words. However seems to me, these synthesizer specific issue is irrelevant to my question about speex. The basic idea is concatenating pre-recorded phonemes or words into longer sentences. So any missing or extra samples, even it is as short as 5~10ms, cause very noticeable discontinuities. Infinity Combat Prototype OpenAL problems
According to the AppDB, the Infinity Combat Prototype works perfectly. Unfortunately, when I try to run it, it freezes when it tries to load OpenAL. I've tried installing the OpenAL stuff linked to on the DB entry: no effect. Stderr shows nothing useful when running it and running it with WINEDEBUG=+openal32 shows nothing more.

nls: Missing value or an Infinity produced when evaluating the model
Hi, I am trying to fit a sigmoid curve to some data with nls but I am getting into some trouble. Seems that the optimization method is getting down to some parameter estimates that make the equation unsolvable. The gamma function and infinity
I have to calculate some formula like: gamma(x)/(gamma(x+y) and I observed that for relatively big values of x, R returns infinity and so cannot compute the formula. Is it possible to force R to give the real value of gamma(x) instead of Inf ? thanks

infinity in integrate function in R
sorry the integration was from -Inf to 1.96 The integrate function in R is not taking Inf (infinity). How do you use infinity in R. I was doing: integrate(dnorm,- Inf, 1.96) and I was getting Error: NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call (arg 2). Obviously this should be equal to pnorm(1.96)= 0.9750021. How do you get around the infinity problem in R?

Float::INFINITY ranges in where() clause

Why not take ranges containing Float::INFINITY and translate them to the appropriate greater than or less than comparisons?
