Mixing html tags and Ruby blocks
I''m trying to get the following idea to work:
<%= @column_names.each { |t| <td> t.downcase </td> <td>
@listing.send(t.downcase)</td> } %>
Essentially I want to display a form that has a left and right TD, with
the left TD being a column name and the right TD being the column data.
If there''s a better way (the Rails way ?), I''m all ears

SHLG and lib dir
Slowly figuring out how to get my SaltedHashLoginGenerator stuff working. The wiki page
says to put "before_filter :login_required" in the user (my "user" is "member") controller
or in ApplicationController. However, wherever I put it I get NoMethodError.
The rest of the SHLG stuff seems to be working... or at least I could get to the signup
page, register, and

Send parameter along with method in before_filter
Hello list,
I have an app that has a very simple authorization scheme. A person can have
many roles and roles can have many people.
In my app, I''d like to do
before_filter :login_required (since no role name is provided, it accepts
any users with credentials)
before_filter :login_required ("administrator") (only accepts those with
role administrator)
before_filter

Stop an action ?
Hi.
I am working on a generic authentification system for rails (more
complete than the login generator). The way it works is you call a
method inside your action, passing the domain as a parameter (domains
are like a group of users with specific rights).
For that purpose, I need to exit the action inside this method because
it redirects to a login page if that person isn''t

before_filter always running in test, not in development or production mode.
I''m using Shoulda and restful_authentication on Rails3 and whenever I
run my tests a before filter for login_required is always triggered,
despite my filter being set up as:
before_filter :login_required, :only =>
[:update, :edit, :suspend, :unsuspend, :destroy, :purge]
My test is this:
context ''A guest to the site'' do
context ''on GET to

9cays - A Rails app for Group Email
Even though it''s a little OT, I thought I''d announce the free public
beta of a new Rails app that I''ve been working on for a while:
http://9cays.com
Think of it as mini-mailing list software. For a lot of smallish
conversations, normal mailing list are too heavyweight (requiring
setup, moderation, admin, etc.), but group email is a pain because

it "method login_required should redirect to home path without login" do
pending "I tried to use controller.login_required.should be_redirected
and got NoMethodError with nil object

Weird Problem With Active Record
Is it me or is my model getting the created_at from the wrong model!
I have a HABTM relationship between Problems and Tags. In one of my
controller I do the following:
def view
@tag = Tag.find_by_name @params[:id]
end
In my view I do this:
<% @tag.problems.each do |problem| %>
...
<%= problem.created_at %>
...
<% end %>
Now, how come the created_at

Variable not evaluating, returning nil object
There is probably a simple answer to this, but I''m fairly new to rails.
Any idea why the variable "b" won''t evaluate on this line?
<%=image_tag(thumbnail(items[b].catalognum,
192),:alt=>items[b].view_description,:border=>0)%>
If I change it to:
<%=image_tag(thumbnail(items[0].catalognum,

Why before_filter is not working?
I have been scratching my head on this one for most of the day.
Hopefully someone can help explain why before_filter isn''t working for
my codes.
In my Application controller, I have this:
before_filter :login_required, :except =>
[:newacct, :create_newacct, :passwd_reset ]
def login_required
unless session[:user_id]
flash[:notice] = "Please log in"

before_filter order of execution
Hi
I''m trying to use before_filter to allow access to a site. Only logged
in users can view any object in the controller, but only users with a
access_level higher than 2 can view specific objects. My code is:
-----------------------------------------------------------
IN USER_CONTROLLER
before_filter :login_required
before_filter :access_granted, :only => [:destroy, :new , :edit]

useful bit of code (hopefully)
Hi,
I often find myself using bits of code like this inside ActiveRecord,
perhaps it''s useful for others, or others can improve on it:
###########
# fix user input before validating it
before_validation :sanitize_input
# santize input before actual validation is called
# this uses the little methods defined below
def sanitize_input

restful authentication - filtering out login ??
i am unable to reach the login page when adding ''before_filter
:login_required'' to the application controller.
I HAVE added the following to my sessions controller
''before_filter :login_required, :except => [:new, :create, :destroy]''
I figured this would overload the app controller filter but i get this
loop while it looks for sessions/new and isnt allowed

nil.- what the heck...
Okay first off here''s the error:
You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!
You might have expected an instance of Array.
The error occured while evaluating nil.-
Here''s the code in the model:
def highest_bid
@bid = nil
@oldbid = 0
self.bids.each do |bid|
if @bid == nil
@bid = bid.max
else
if bid.max > @bid

Authenticate with an IP address : LoginGenerator
Is there a way to authenticate with an IP address? I''m using the
LoginGenerator, but would like to bypass the "before_filter

" if a user is in a correct IP range...
Anyone know of a solution?
Thanks!

What about the P-values, other Chisq, DF, se(coef) and
