standardization of values before call to pam() or clara()
Greetings,
Experimenting with the cluster package, and am starting to scratch my head in
regards to the *best* way to standardize my data. Both functions can
pre-standardize columns in a dataframe. according to the manual:
Measurements are standardized for each variable (column), by subtracting the
variable's mean value and dividing by the variable's mean absolute deviation.

PAM conversation stuff
Okay, I'm confused again. They way you guys are talking about the
conversation routine, it would seem that you think it is a way to fetch
something from the user - like a new password. Is this possible? Does
calling pam_chauthtok() cause the underlying pam_sm_chauthtok()
eventually print something on stdout and read a new password from stdin
(the socket to the client) using the conversation

Burning DVD with files>4GB from console
My backup script split filesystem dumps to files with size of 4,37 GB (4
588 544 kB). It's just an optimal size to fill out DVDs. At this moment
I have to burn them from windows via smb-link becuase I didn't manage to
do this task from FreeBSD console due to 2GB/4GB filesize restrictions
(growisofs). I'm using freeware CDBurnerXP to burn my backups
(ISO9660/UDF/Joliet), and they

OpenSSH3.0p1/PAM/Sol8
Hi there,
I just tried out OpenSSH3.0p1 running on Solaris 8 with PAM (--with-PAM).
The problem was mentioned some time ago and is still there :-(
When a password is expired you are prompted to change it now, enter your
login password and after doing so you are instantly disconnected. I think
this is a problem with PAM and not SSH, but how can I get a solution on this
?

PAM fails to change user password
Hi, freebsd-security.
I have FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE.
When I try to change user's password (via passwd) I recieve the
following:
passwd: entry inconsistent
passwd: pam_chauthtok(): error in service module
passwd: in pam_sm_chauthtok(): pw_copy() failed
and password stays unchanged.
There are no other errors in the authorization system at all.
Contents of /etc/pam.d stayed unchanged (compared to

a basic question about standardization?
Hi all,
I have a question about standardization.
Suppose I have training data which is a X matrix, of size N x p, where N is
the number of samples, p is the number of variables in the data set. Y is a
response vector of size N x 1, each element correspoding to each row of the
X matrix.
I do standardization on X, X1=scale(X, TRUE, TRUE), and Y1=scale(Y, TRUE,
FALSE).
And I got a regression

FLAC standardization in the IETF
Hi all,
I'm writing in my capacity as co-chair of the CELLAR working group of the
IETF, which is tasked with the standardization of the FLAC specification.
I posted about the initial creation of the working group in 2015, and I am
wondering if any of the developers on this list are also subscribed to the
IETF CELLAR list (
https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=cellar).

How does dsgh do the standardization?
Hi,
I try to understand how the generalized hyperbolic distribution is
standardized. One reference is the rugarch vignette, page 16-18:
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rugarch/vignettes/Introduction_to_the_rugarch_package.pdf
I looked at the code of the dsgh function in the fBasics package:
> dsgh
function (x, zeta = 1, rho = 0, lambda = 1, log = FALSE)
{
if (length(zeta) == 3) {

[fdo] Standardization of input methods on Linux?
Hello!
I don't know how well this fits within the scope of Freedesktop's
current work, but as a Linux user who studies languages, I think there's
an area that could definitely use improvement, namely input methods for
various Asian and other non-romance languages. While several solutions
for inputting these languages are available, most of them seem to be of

Confirmation of resource completeness.
Hi all,
I need to have some way of confirming that all manifests have run against
as chosen group of hosts. We are just about to use puppet to perform post
build configuration on nearly 200 machines and one final sanity check
requirement from the bosses is that we have an easy way of seeing that
puppet has done the deed on each server.
I have googled, read what I can find on the puppet web

standardization of slot access
Hi,
I'm usually confused about when to use 'slot' or '@'. I've frequently
read that it's always preferable to use accessor functions, so I would
think the '@' operator should be avoided. However, ?slot contains the
following advise:
"Generally, the only reason to use the functional form rather than the
simpler operator is _because_ the slot name has to

feature request: "remote user is root, make remote owner is foo"
I often push files from my user account over SSH to my web server, and
want them owned by www-user, which may not have a login shell, should
never accept remote logins, and who may not have a ~/.ssh directory
(and if it did, it would be under the wwwroot, ack!).
Currently I push as root and then do a chmod, but isn't there a better
way? While I'm doing this, the files are temporarily

IETF standardization: RFC by November 9
Dear all,
We are excited to announce that the our CELLAR working group charter
for the standardization of FFV1, Matroska, and FLAC has been made
available for external review. What this means is that it is now
under review and available for comment to the wider IETF community.
Please send any comments you might have(including statement of
support)to the IESG mailing list by November 9, 2015.

Standardization FLAC through IETF
Dear members of the flac-dev list,
I'm writing to ask for feedback from the FLAC community regarding the
possibility of standardizing the FLAC specification through the Internet
Engineering Task Force. I'm working with MediaArea on the PREFORMA project
which focuses on building conformance checkers for Matroska and FFV1. Since
Matroska and FFV1 are not yet formally standardized, this

Manager API - standardization?
Hi all,
I know I'm probably stirring up a hornet's nest with this question/comment
but I've spent the last few days working on a PHP-based class for the
manager interface as we're preparing for a pretty big upgrade at our call
center and I'm revamping all of the management apps I've written. I can
connect to the manager interface and send query strings back and forth all
