Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
I seem to be able to lock my machine by going into wpa_cli and asking it to 'reassoc'. The reason for question mark after "hard" is that debug information (caused by wlandebug and athdebug) is being printed on the console. The only way to get machine's attention is to hold power button for 8 seconds. Note: manual reassociation is just the handy way to reproduce the problem

IPsec - got ESP going, but not AH
Hi folks, I've been working on getting my WiFi network running with IPsec. I'm at the point where all traffic on the wifi subnet is encrypted (i.e. ESP). Then I tried to add AH to the equation. I failed. This picture describes the network setup: http://beta.freebsddiary.org/images/ipsec-wireless.gif Here's what I'm trying and failing with. With these rules, I get no

[LLVMdev] does llvm support type checking?
Recently I was looking up LLVM on net and I stumbled upon a pdf called "2008-05-17-BSDCan-LLVMIntro.pdf". What makes this somewhat general introduction to llvm interesting for me is the fact that it mentions (on page 30 if you are curious) that it supports "Type Checking and Semantic Analysis - Builds Abstract Syntax Trees (AST) for valid input"!!! I find this surprising

ath network (wifi) driver (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3515 laptop)
Hello Sam, I've got a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3515 laptop, with a builtin autheros-wifi card, but I can't get it working. I am running FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE, I don't know whether it works in -CURRENT. Over here I have the dmesg: http://junk.quis.cx/VNViVksv/blackbox.dmesg.txt I haven't compiled it in, it didn't boot that way (kernel panic iirc). When I kldload if_ath I get

Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
Hi Sam, do you know if there is anything done about cbb(4)? I have many wireless adapters with ath(4), but only the one based on PCMCIA is making problems on FreeBSD. I cannot boot my notebook with the device inserted into the port, or it will render the system unusable (100% load on cbb(4)). And all I can see is the following: Jul 12 14:58:39 link kernel: ath0: ath_chan_set: unable to reset

CFT: FreeBSD Package Base
FreeBSD Community, I'm pleased to announce a CFT for builds of FreeBSD 12-stable and 13-current using "TrueOS-inspired" packaged base. These are stock FreeBSD images which will allow users to perform all updating via the 'pkg' command directly. Rather than trying to answer all questions in this announcement, we've created a FAQ page with more details. Please refer to

IPsec works, but racoon/IKE does not
I have no idea whatsoever as to why racoon/IKE does not work here. I've tried various how-to documents but found nothing that works for me. Gateway (10.0.0.1) running 4.9-stable. Laptop (10.0.0.10) running 5.2.1-release. Both running racoon-20040408a On the gateway 10.0.0.1 # cat /etc/ipsec.conf add 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.10 esp 691 -E rijndael-cbc "1234567890123456" -A hmac-sha1

[llvm dev] do we have allocator hook to use maximum different registers?
Hi, Default register allocator tries to reuse the same registers over and over again even if register file have a plenty of registers to use. This creates parasite false dependencies and makes scheduling less effective. How to instruct allocator (may be override some virtual function in mine backend?) that it is profitable to use maximum number of available registers with minimal dependencies?

Phantom nulls in usbdevs.h during 9-STABLE kernel build
We are seeing strange problems building the kernel on 9-STABLE. The problem is intermittent and will go away if we build enough times in a row without making any changes. The problem seems to be that the usbdevs.h file (which appears to be automatically generated) gets random NULL bytes in it. This occurs on multiple servers with ECC RAM and ZFS filesystems (sometimes mounted over NFS from
