linux-image-2.6.18-3-xen-686 on Etch with custom config?
Hi, I'd like to build a version of linux-image-2.6.18-3-xen-686 on
Etch with a custom config. To do similar in the past I've used the
linux-source-* packages but I don't see any for Xen. Is there a
guide or other docs as to how this should be done with the -xen
kernels?
Alternatively, is there a patch anywhere against
linux-source-2.6.18?
Cheers,
Andy

3.0.2-testing packages for etch
Greetings Debian Xen team,
I spent a weekend getting 3.0.2-testing building and thought i'd share
the love.
Manoj and I are already working to update make-kpkg for the new Xen
architecture.
My repo is at:

I have posted a Breezy-centric howto for this build at:

Hope you enjoy it, and hope we can

Xen 3.0.3 for Etch
Hi folks
Upstream forked a 3.0.3 tree a week ago. I hope they will release it in
the next two weeks. I think it will be a good idea to release this with
Etch. This may be also a good target as RHEL5 will also release with
Linux 2.6.18 (we use their xen patch for the kernel already) and Xen
3.0.3.
My current plan is:
- Upload 3.0.3-testing with version 3.0.3~rc1+hg$revision and abi
3.0.3-rc1.

Which kernel for Xen 3.1 on Etch ?
Hello,
I'm trying to get Xen 3.1 from backports.org to work on a Debian Etch server.
I can't find a kernel corresponding to Xen 3.1. Which kernel should I use ?
Is there an installation guide somewhere ?
Thanks a lot

DomU with Etch does not work on Lenny dom0
Hello,
My domU's with Lenny do work without problems, but when I try to use
Etch I can start the domU, but I cannot ping the domU.
When I start the domU with "xm create name.cfg -c" I see this:
------
mount: Mounting /root/dev on /dev/.static/dev failed: No such file or
directory
Done.

xen-utils-3.2-1 xen-hypervisor-3.2-1 on etch
Hi List,
I backported the latest hypervisor and utils for etch on x86_64. However, I'm having some problems starting the xend daemon which is packaged in the xen-utils-common package. I'm trying to run this against a dom0 kernel which I downloaded from :-

Weird behaviour concerning send-speed (Debian Etch, Samba from official deb)
Hi,
I'm experiencing a very annoying and strange behaviour with Samba since quite
some time (I guess like 2 months now or so): When I write to a share speeds
are quite excellent with up to 60 Mbyte/sec, however when I want to read
speeds are under a megabyte per second, mostly even below 300 kb/s which is
rather unacceptable in my opinion.
I went through the "usual suspects" -

Etch Release / Bond networking
Hello,
I just setup a Xen server and wanted to use bond0 for my network
connection.
I ended up downloading and addeding the attatched file and making the
following change in /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp.
I added this line: (network-script 'network-bond netdev=bond0')
Would this line be a good one to add to the commented lines and include
the network-bond file in the scripts?

Several xen problems in Debian Etch
Hi folks,
before I flood the bug tracking system, I just want to send you a list
of problems I encountered when using xen under Debian Etch (i386 on
Intel Core2 Duo E6750). Shall I open a seperate bug report for each of
the items below or are some of them features that are known to be
missing in the xen release?

Etch: Xen does not want guests: Error: (22, 'Invalid argument')
Hi,
I want to use Xen on a current Testing using the amd64 architecture. I
want to use the i386 architecture for the laster Xen guests.
The hardware is a Intel Xeon 5130 (Woodcrest) with the Vanderpool
support. Two harddisk are used as a Linux software raid 1.
Installing the hypervisor and rebooting worked like a charm since the
bootmenu of grub has also been updates:)
The hypervisor is

Backporting Xen 3.1 to Etch
Hi,
this morining I was trying to compile xen 3.1 on my Debian Etch (AMD64).
I have a little problem with gcc-multilib. It depends on many packages
that don't exist in Etch. So I brutally remove it from debian/control
and then dpkg-buildpackage.
There was some warning on compilation:
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: format of `NEEDED libxenstore.so' not recognized

Bug#402974: xen-utils-common: xen domain do not always shutdown
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
When shutting down xen domains with '/etc/init.d/xendomains stop' most
of the time not all domains are stopped when the script finishes.
As it turns out the xendomains-script queries running domains by
executing 'xm list', this command replies its usage info sometimes
instead of giving proper output. I

Bug#402974: additional info
could it be that the bug is rather fixed because you increase the number
of characters cut checks for the domain name?
You mix in your patch some complex logic to determine stuff with the
minor change of setting these characters up to 40.
It is a known, but still unfixed bug in Xen upstream that they only cut
the first 14 characters, and if your domain has a name like
server-nameserver-test,

Bug#588406: fix for missing XEN_SCRIPT_DIR
I had another look at this and found the source of the problem - the reason why XEN_SCRIPT_DIR is not set: The hotplugpath.sh file is missing in the package.
In the "rules" file the "install" target includes this line:
$(MAKE) -C $(BUILD_DIR)/tools/hotplug/Linux install-udev install-scripts UDEV_RULES_DIR=/lib/udev/rules.d
The problem is that make is never run in the

Problem : Debian xen package removal & installation
Hi All,
I'm working on Xen 3.0.2 installation upon Debian
4.1.1-13(kernel 2.6.17.13)
Although I spent 2 days to set up Xen 3.0.2, it is
failed to install Xen 3.0.2 with several installation
manuals which I got from google.
I think several trials of Xen installation made my
debian system dependancy broken, so when I tried to
remove xen-utils package from Debian, it made some

Wine + Dreamweaver CS3 + Debian Etch 2.6.18-6-amd64 + Gnome
Hi!
I am experiencing some small annoyances with my DW3-installation. After installing DW (http://www.openaddict.com/node/25), it works almost perfectly, except that context menus (triggered by right-click) are just disapperaring after a millisecond. File, Edit-menus etc. works fine, just as in Windows. Is this a GTK issue? Suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

fastthread errors on Debian Etch
Hi all,
I am strangely getting errors on Debian Etch on a Intel server though
I had done an identical install of mongrel-1.0.1 on an amd64 version
of Etch.
While building fastthreads I get:
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::Installer::ExtensionBuildError)
ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.
ruby extconf.rb install mongrel
creating Makefile
make
gcc -I.
