Migration failing (xen 3.0.3 on RHEL 5) with "not a valid guest state file: pfn count read"
Hi all, I''m having some problem migrating a simple domU between two hosts. Short question: xm migrate (live or not) fails even though either host is capable of running the VM. Error seems to be: "not a valid guest state file: pfn count read" Long question: I have two boxes (devvmdevvmhost1 and devvmhost2) running xen 3.0.3 (RHEL 5), they are attached to a Dell MD3000 unit

Problems with xm migrate --live
Hello, I have 2 Dell 1955 blade servers, running RHEL5-Xen. I''m testing the migrate functionality from one blade to another. I can start the domain, move it to one blade (minor delay/packet loss) and everything is fine. When I try to move it back to the original blade the migration fails and the DomU crashes c1b1 = Blade 1 (192.168.131.201) c1b2 = Blade 2

Modifying Xen migration
Hello everyone, for research purposes I''m working on Xen 3.0.3 and trying to make some modifications to Xen migration. By looking at the documentation, I''ve learned that the part I''m interesting in are handled by two binaries (xc_save and xc_restore), so I thought about modifying just this two binaries instead of recompiling the whole Xen everytime, so what I do is just

Do systems have to be IDENTICAL for live migration?
I have several systems running 64bit SLES11SP1. I''m trying to Live Migrate between a couple of them and it''s not working, although the same VM will run on each one starting it manually. The system are not identical. Would one expect migration to work between these two systems? See below. Thanks, James The first system is a ProLiant DL360 G6: Proc 1:2533 MHz Execution

Just wondering if this is a known bug? Trying to migrate the VM off to a diff dom0 results in the below error. Hi I have a setup where I have an eth2 10GB interface setup a loop back between two dell 1950 servers. I have enabled VT in the bios. The eth0 interface is on a 1GB network. I am using an iscsi shared drive for the HVM image. Bug#519064: affix to hvm migration fails because of missing /var/lib/xen/save
I had, the same problem. The described solution works, however, the directory needed is /var/lib/xen only (save) is irrelevant here. Have a look into xend.log after a successful hvm migration and see the last but one argument in a line as below: INFO (image:289) spawning device models: /usr/lib/xen-3.2-1/bin/qemu- dm ['/usr/lib/xen-3.2-1/bin/qemu-dm', '-d', '6',
