Meet the new maintainer
I'll throw this thought out here so it doesn't get lost: when it came time for me to build a Windows release, I always used a quarantined Windows box that had the minimum stuff installed and had never been on a network, to avoid malware getting into the binaries.
The last thing I ever wanted to hear was some Windows user blaming FLAC because a bad build infected him.? It was bad enough

Antivirus for CentOS? (yuck!)
Hi All,
Yes, I know, it's really really embarrassing to have to ask but I'm
being pushed to the wall with PCI DSS Compliance procedure
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSS) and have to either justify why
we don't need to install an anti-virus or find an anti-virus to run on
our CentOS 5 servers.
Whatever I do - it needs to be convincing enough to make the PCI
compliance guy tick the

WannaCry did not infect XP or for that matter, Windows Nein,
oops, Ten. Doesn't mean it couldn't if altered to do so:

Virus scan + removal on a mdbox mail storage
Hi,
I need advice on how virus scan and removal can be done on a _mdbox_
mail storage?
On a maildir storage the virus scanner (e.g. clamav etc.) can detect
and remove a email that is infected, since every email and attachment
are stored in separate files.
But in mdbox the emails and attachments are compressed together in one
ore more mdbox-files ...
I am anxious to convert my mail

CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with Watchbog malware
Hi,
Is there a way to find out how the CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with
malware?
Currently i am referring to
http://sudhakarbellamkonda.blogspot.com/2018/11/blocking-watchbog-malwareransomware.html
to carry out the below steps and is done manually.

Array access dependencies
Hi all
I am relatively new to LLVM and I am still trying to work my way through.
What I am trying to implement is a list of array access and indices of the
same within loops. I can then probably try to work on dependencies they can
have.
I have already got all the Basic blocks in a loop and I am looking at load
& store instructions to reconstruct array access (casting GEP instructions).

Anyone using antivirus software?
Hello list,
I was just wondering if anyone is using anti-virus software on their Samba server. I have protection on my clients, but I want to run software on the server too. I've looked at McAfee's Virus Scan, but as far as I can tell, it only uses "on-demand" scanning, meaning I have to trigger it from the command line, or run a cron job. I would like to have

Array access dependencies
Hi,
Hopefully the video Michael posted will help you, thanks for posting. It's
more useful to the user of these passes than the developer I guess (it
describes
the theoretical background, hurdles of the implementation etc.). But the
two passes we describe, DependenceAnalysis and MemorySSA, have very clean
interfaces so you shouldn't have a problem in that matter. You probably

Linux malware attack
SlashDot had an article today on a Linux server malware attack,
<http://it.slashdot.org/story/14/03/18/2218237/malware-attack-infected-25000-linuxunix-servers>.
I wonder if there is a simple test to see if a CentOS machine
has been infected in this way?
The article mentions Yara and Snort rules to test for this,
but I wonder if there is something simpler?
Alternatively, are there Yara or

Multiple subnets
Hi all,
I have a client that has 4 subnets within his building, internet,
office, business center and wireless. My plan is to use Shorewall but I
have never tested it with more than 2 interfaces. Is this possible?
Would there be any issues that might arise. Each subnet would have
access to the internet but there will be no communications allowed
between the others.
Thanks in advance....

Configure Wine to run only one application
I persuaded my friends to convert to Linux, now they want Sketchup!
They are the sort of people who would click on anything and I don't want them to get malware etc.
Is there a way to make Wine run *only* Sketchup and nothing else?
I did try searching for the answer but couldn't find one.
Thanks

There is. It's slightly complicated because (a) I don't have a windows
machine with a public IP jenkins can ssh to, and (b) the jenkins box
itself doesn't have a public IP the java blob jenkins provides can
phone home to.

Question about safety in using WINE
Hey guys,
I just found out about wine today, and i am extremely paranoid about getting viruses and malware and things of that nature.
If i use this program strictly just to play video games is there any chance i could get infected by anything?
I just wondered how vulnerable this would make my computer.
Thank you

post-delivery virus scan
I have discovered that many times the virus definitions I use for scanning messages (ClamAV, with the unofficial signatures http://sanesecurity.com/usage/linux-scripts/) are updated some time after my server has received an infected email. It seems the virus creators are trying to race the virus definition creators to see who can deliver first; more than half of the infected messages are found

Samba Shares and Win32 Viruses
Hi Collective users of Samba, (does has a nice ring to it eh?)
Recently I found a my samba server being infected by win32 viruses.
Though it does not affect the server in any way, I do find them to be
an annoyance.
I understand also that I can perform "veto" of files like *.exe in smb.conf
but find that to be a wee bit restrictive. There are some users who
stores valid executables in

Ransomware?
I had to deal with ransomware at the end of April. One of the PCs on my
customer's network was infected by opening a realistic looking email
apparently from a genuine supplier to the company and personally addressed.
The infection occurred on Wednesday, but encryption of the server only took
place late on Friday afternoon, presumably having obtained encryption keys
from the criminals. The

What antivirus program is the best for a computer?
I know that Norton might rock, but myself personally, I can't tolerate the way it uses all of my ram and slows my computer down. I use spy bot, but that isn't enough. Is there anyone out there who knows of an antivirus program that will not eat up my bank account or my computer's capacity to function at a normal rate? Thank you for your time......

You might want to specify a bit more detail, such as:
- which country are you located in
- do you require inbound DDIs (if so, in which region/s)?
- which countries' Caller ID/s do you need to present?

Linux virus
ugh :)
Today I became infected with the bliss virus, any info on this would be
appreciated! How do I scan for files infected and is it possible to
remove it? I first noticed the infection when running a program (not as
root) messages flashed on the screen about transversing directories and
such. The program (gimp) had been working fine since I downloaded the
binary for gimp from their main
