Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
Hi, I am trying to install Davka Judaic Classics IIc, a bookshelf kind of software with Hebrew books. It is a win32 program that was designed for running also on win3.11, hence the installer is, I believe, win16. I have used this software on Win95 and Win98. The program happily runs off emulated cdroms. I have now tried to install this program under wine, but can't even get the installer to

Re: Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
Thank you. Unfortunately, I bit more than I can swallow. I redirected the output of strace to a file, but it has more than 22k lines. How do I sensibly winnow that down? I have never used strace before and the output is overwhelming. Alternatively/additionally, is there something similar for windows, which I can use to check what happens under windows, with a functioning copy of the program I am

Re: Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
I ran strace without grep, and redirected stderr to a file, so that I can analyze it peacefully and change my mind as many times as I want without needing to run the command again (though that shouldn't be too troublesome, either). command line: strace wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/davkajcl/judclib2.exe &> .wine/judaic_classics.stderr Regarding your suggestion to capture the error

Davka Writer
I am a new Linux and Wine user. I have successfully installed Wine in PCLinuxOS, and it is able to run an old Legacy program from Parsons Technology called Address Book. I then used Wine to install an old version of Davka Writer, a Hebrew word processing program. The program appeared to install correctly, as far as I could tell. The installation required a serial number, which I have.

Running GTA Classics.
After downloading the first two Grand Theft Auto games from the Rockstar Classics website, and installing the first game I received this error: > MGL Fatal Error! > Error 268.473 > Cannot find a suitable display mode. After a bit of searching, I believe that this is a problem with running the game under Wine, and not with my PC. Then, although I probably should have checked first, I

Wine Win16 support in 1.2+ releases
Hi there. Last year I was using Wine 1.2 and 1.3 versions under Linux Mint 11 Katya tyo run an the old Maxis SimFarm. It was able to run but would freeze up after a few hours. Also I noticed there was no sound for the game. I Also ran some Win32 apps, some of which had sound and they had no problems at all. Is the support for Win16 apps not being maintained any more? Currently I am in the middle

Problem with a Win16 application fonts
Hi all, I have a win16 app running. It works ok, but the fonts are almost unreadable. I've tried to change the fonts with winecfg changing the dpi and the options on the Desktop Integration tab, but only the dialogs get changed, the main window doesn't update. I've used winetricks to download all the fonts, but it didn't improve. Are there any special changed that can be made to

Anyone using ffmpeg as a source-client?
I'm just wondering if ffmpeg is a reliable Icecast source-client -- a "pusher" to send a stream to an Icecast server and runs 24/7/365 dependably. -- That Jack Elliott (541) 848 7021 KPOV 88.9 FM High Desert Community radio Host, The Sunday Classics On 8/27/2019 10:58 AM, Alejandro wrote: > When you say as Source Client, means like listener? > > i'm using for push

Icecast install under Windows
Oh dear. Okay, can anyone suggest how to install Icecast under Windows as a service, and to be able to bring up some kind of console to start/stop it? I can launch Icecast using the installed .bat file, but it's clunky. -- that Jack Elliott 541 848 7021 Producer Wednesday Point, Host, The Sunday Classics KPOV 88.9, High Desert Radio Audio geek On 05/14/2015 09:21 AM, Ross Levis wrote:

Wine on non-Unix platforms
Greetings everyone. Let me start by stating that I appreciate the enormous undertaking that Wine has been, and I am not suggesting that the ideas I will ask about in this post would be easy (or even possible) to implement, so there's no need to flame the n00b. As I understand it, Wine is an implementation of the Windows API for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems (Mac OS X, FreeBSD,

Question about Icecast2 when not streaming
Hmm. Even with the file in the right place, Icecast still doesn't use it when my stream is offline. I can access the file using it's URL, so I know Icecast has access to it. This is what I have in my configuration file. <mount> <mount-name>/stream.mp3</mount-name> <fallback-mount>/StreamWarning.mp3</fallback-mount>

Use web admin to re-start source?
Hi, I see that I can use the "Kill Source" button on the Icecast admin web page to kill our fallback.mp3 file. Now that I have killed the fallback file, I don't see a way to re-start it. Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
Encoding not being part of Icecast, I reckon this is indeed off-topic; but to close the thread, it does seem to be the case that mp3 encoding is now license free. "MP3 is supported by everything, everywhere, and is now patent-free. There has never been another audio format as widely supported as MP3, it's good enough for almost anything, and now, over twenty years since it took the
