This is my wine day: subpixel-AA is here
This makes may day; it actually makes my week! I can't believe the genius wine developers have implemented subpixel font anti-aliasing in 1.1.12! All the apps look 100 times better now! I have opened Word 2003 about 10 times today just to look at the new beautiful UI! I have waited for this ever since I started using wine (~ 2006). This is my personal wine day! Thank so much, wine developers

Subpixel by default?
Hi. I know that subpixel rendering is supported in wine. However, it is not turned on on default setting. You have to add this to registry: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "FontSmoothing"="2" "FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002 "FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000578 "FontSmoothingOrientation"=dword:00000001 Can this be added by

Subpixel font rendering in 1.1.12
The announcement for Wine 1.1.12 says that support for subpixel font rendering has been added. The question is, how can we use it? Is there a way to enable it globally (there's no such setting in winecfg).

Firefox on Wine as preferred browser
Not just for dogfooding, but because it's actually faster than running the native binary: The reason is not clear - hypotheses include MSVC++ builds being much better optimised than gcc builds. I'm sure people are investigating closely. Anyway, I just reinstalled Ubuntu 8.10 and put KDE 4.2 on top and *didn't* install the distro Firefox. No, I got Shiretoko (FF 3.1 nightly) win32

Hello, I installed Office 2007 Professionnal and get an issue (Wine 1.1.42 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10). I tried to fix it by installing core fonts and so on but nothing changed. Please have a look at this screenshot: [Image: http://i46.tinypic.com/2ldc13m.jpg ] As you see, the arial font looks awful. Did anyone managed to fix it ? Regards, RedVivi

Fonts in Wine again
Hi all, I'm using wine-1.3.4 with Ubuntu 10.04. I have two problems with font rendering in wine: 1) I can not find any possibility to disable rendering of internal bitmaps in TTF. Sometimes the text looks very ugly, especially when i'm using different languages in the same text, but bitmaps exist only for English. So far the only way to avoid this is to remove bitmaps via FontForge. 2)

Debian repos and apt key
http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny helpfully points out that lamaresh.net and not wine.budgetdedicated.com should be used as the source for wine packages for Debian. However, there are some problems. First the page provides less useful information than is provided by http://www.winehq.org/download/deb, which still exists and unhelpfully recommends wine.budgetdedicated.com. The other problem

Text sometimes missing on NV18 based laptop
Hi, On my NV18 based laptop I experience artifacts related to text (however, 2D performance is really great these days): - With grayscale AA text is sometimes missing, often visible on the XFCE desktop - With subpixel (rgb) AA, even non-text related occur (icons are misrendered, ...) I've reported the issues here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81283 With noaccel it works

theora problems
Hi, I've been trying to use libtheora-experimental (libtheoraenc and libtheoradec) to encode a webcam feed in real-time, to be decoded also in realtime by a second party via XXX-IP, with - unfortunately - not so good results. I'm using custom written functions to convert from RGB8 to YUV420 and back and, although not much processor-efficient, they do what they're supposed to

Installing latest Wine on Debian
I installed Wine using the Lamaresh repo for Debian, but unlike openSUSE's repos, I found out that it installs and old version: 1.1.42. Is there some repo for Debian where I can install latest version from? Or should I better try building it from source? Sorry if it's a silly question. Thanks.

Test network under wine
Hello, firstly, I'm sorry for posting in the 3 lists ... I don't know if it is a bug or if some developer can help me. I comment my problem, I've used a game named FML (football manager live) with wine previously, it worked (months ago), I don't remember the version of FML client and wine version :-( I would want play to FML again, I've downloaded the new version of fml client
