Speeding up configuration log regeneration?
Hi, We run four-node Lustre 2.3, and I needed to both change hardware under MGS/MDS and reassign an OSS ip. Just the same, I added a brand new 10GE network to the system, which was the reason for MDS hardware change. I ran tunefs.lustre --writeconf as per chapter 14.4 in Lustre Manual, and everything mounts fine. Log regeneration apparently works, since it seems to do something, but

a trojan is on your computer!
hi, I am from Norway and you'll don't believe me, but a trojan horse in on your pc. I've scanned the network-ports on the internet. (I know, that's illegal) And I have found your pc. Your pc is open on the internet for everybody! Because the smss.exe trojan is running on your system. Check this, open the task manager and try to stop that! You'll see, you can't stop this

ClamAV reporting virus found in 4.8.3 from source
Hello,     I'm sure it's a false positive but figured I post any way. My weekly full scan of my servers reported the following results. /root/samba-4.8.3/bin/default/source3/lib/netapi/examples/group/group_deluser.inst: Unix.Trojan.Vali-6606621-0 FOUND /root/samba-4.8.3/bin/default/source3/lib/netapi/examples/group/group_adduser.inst: Unix.Trojan.Vali-6606621-0 FOUND

Diamond graphs, again.
Some time ago I was allowed to discuss "Diamond Graphs", and whether they would be useful in R, in this mailing list. The August 2003 issue of The American Statistician has finally arrived here and I have been able to read the article. A number of points of interest arise. 1. The article is "A Diamond-Shaped Equiponderant Graphical Display of the Effects of Two

trojan at current development version?
Hi, is it possible, that the current development version for Windows ( http://cran.at.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/R-2.13.0dev-win.exe) is infected by a trojan/virus. My antivir-program (www.avira.com) seems to find a trojan in open.exe at bin\i386. Best regards, Andreas [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Diamond graphs
I apologise for starting a new thread, but we had a mail problem and I don't have the original message to refer to. Someone mentioned the new "Diamond Graphs" invented at Johns Hopkins. I haven't see the August 2003 issue of The American Statistician yet, but I _have_ read the press release. The press release is a bit of a stunner. I quote: "Who would have thought we

Crackers?
Hi, just wishing you a merry christmas and happy new year, by presenting to you a new trojan for Linux. It`s professionally made by Apple Computer Inc. question about centroid-linkage (cluster analysis)
Dear R community, I would be greatful if somebody could shed light on the following. I have created a set of 6 points to check how centroid agglomeration works in cluster analysis: > Y <- data.frame(x=c(-1,1,1,-1,10,12),y=c(1,1,-1,-1,0,0)) It is quite intuitive to understand that the last clusters to be joined will be {1,2,3,4} with {5,6}. Now, the centroid for the first cluster has

convex hull for cluster analysis
Dear R gurus and users, I seem to have problem finding the right tool for plotting convex hulls over 2D plots, after a cluster analysis. In fact I would like to draw a convex hull in 2D for a generic group of points. I found a "convhulln", but this doesn't seem to give me a convex hull. Here is what I do: > library(mvtnorm) > Mean <- c(2,1) > Sigma <-

how to define method for "+" function in a new class
Dear R developers, I have a new class, which I called "Molecule", and have tried to define = a "+" operation for 2 objects of this class. This is what I have written so far, although the method is not complete = (I'm trying to look at it at intermediate stages): setMethod( f=3D"+", signature(x=3D"Molecule",y=3D"Molecule"),

sourcing a linux file with "system"
Dear R community, I would like to source a file in my linux system to set a few environment variables. I have tried: > system("source /home/james/build//ccp4-6.1.13/include/ccp4.setup") and got: sh: source: not found In fact, using Sys.which("source") I get an empty string. How can I source that ccp4.setup file from within an R session? J Dr James Foadi PhD Membrane

greek letters in rgl plot3d
Dear RGL experts, I haven't been able to add greek letters to my rgl plot3d. I have tried "expression" with no success. Here is the interested bit: > library(rgl) > cb <- cube3d() > plot3d(cb,xlab=expression(alpha),ylab="",zlab="",box=FALSE,alpha=0.5) The expression(alpha) appears as "alpha", rather than as a greek symbol. I suspect greek

rgl and lighting
Dear R community (and Duncan more specifically), I can't work out how to make additional light sources work in rgl. Here is the example. First I create a cube and visualize it: > cubo <- cube3d(col="black") > shade3d(cubo) Next I position the viewpoint at theta=0 and phi=30: > view3d(theta=0,phi=30) Next, I want to create a 2nd light source which diffuses red light

summing a large, partitioned data frame
Dear R community, I'm trying to develop a fast way of summing specific rows of a large data frame. Here is an example of the kind of data frames I'm dealing with: > refls H K L M/ISYM BATCH I SIGI 43247 1 0 5 21 79 61.44117 2.20553 1040 1 0 5 257 6 15.16316 0.54431 2324 1 0 5 257 5 46.76152 1.67858 31515 1 0 5 259 60 57.97305

ggplot2 - extracting values of smooth
Suppose that I'm working on Hadley's diamond dataset and I want to review the relationship between price, colour and carat. I might run the following: library(ggplot2) #plot scatter and add some hex binning q<-qplot(carat,price,data=diamonds, geom=c("hex"), main="Variability of Diamond Prices by Carat and Colour") #facet to get one scatter for

counting row repetitions without loop
Hi, I have a data frame consisting of coordinates on a 10*10 grid, i.e. > example x y 1 4 5 2 6 7 3 6 6 4 7 5 5 5 7 6 6 7 7 4 5 8 6 7 9 7 6 10 5 6 What I would like to do is return an 10*10 matrix consisting of counts at each position, so in the above example I would have a matrix where, for example, cell [4,5] contains 2 and [6,7] contains 3. lctl deactivate questions
Hi; One of our OSTs filled up. Once we realized this, we executed lctl --device 9 deactivate on our fs''s combo MDS/MGS machine. We saw in the syslog that the OST in question was deactivated: Lustre: setting import ufhpc-OST0008_UUID INACTIVE by administrator request However, ''lfs df'' on the clients does not show that the OST is deactivated there, unless we *also*

Compromised servers, SSH keys, and replay attacks
We had an incident recently where an openssh client and server were replaced with trojanned versions (it has SKYNET ASCII-art in the binary, if anyone's seen it. Anyone seen the source code ?). The trojan ssh & sshd both logged host/user/password, and probably had a login backdoor. Someone asked me what was their exposure if they used public/private keys instead of passwords. My

[PATCH] dbus terminate action
I was always annoyed that you couldn't terminate an action with dbus so I have written this patch which fixes that. Hopefully this can be included. I wrote the patch trying to repeat as little code as possible so I just added a boolean parameter to the dbusHandleActivateMessage and changed the name to dbusHandleActivateDeactivateMessage. You could probably change the deactivate parameter
