Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
Hi,
I am trying to install Davka Judaic Classics IIc, a bookshelf kind of software with Hebrew books. It is a win32 program that was designed for running also on win3.11, hence the installer is, I believe, win16. I have used this software on Win95 and Win98. The program happily runs off emulated cdroms.
I have now tried to install this program under wine, but can't even get the installer to

Re: Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
Thank you. Unfortunately, I bit more than I can swallow. I redirected the output of strace to a file, but it has more than 22k lines. How do I sensibly winnow that down? I have never used strace before and the output is overwhelming.
Alternatively/additionally, is there something similar for windows, which I can use to check what happens under windows, with a functioning copy of the program I am

Re: Cannot run Win16 installer for Judaic Classics
I found a partial workaround: since this is an old program, which, as far as I can tell, does not use the registry, I simply copied the directory that contains the program files of that program in wine's program files directory, and also added the fonts it needs in wine's font directory, and voila, ...
... it works...
... almost.
The problem is that it expects a CDROM in the drive. I

They will not work on Wine. Don't suggest something you do not know.

No problem; I had asked about them so I can analyze what the program uses *under* *Windows* (which I also run a a Qemu guest).

Wine Win16 support in 1.2+ releases
Hi there. Last year I was using Wine 1.2 and 1.3 versions under Linux Mint 11 Katya tyo run an the old Maxis SimFarm. It was able to run but would freeze up after a few hours. Also I noticed there was no sound for the game. I Also ran some Win32 apps, some of which had sound and they had no problems at all. Is the support for Win16 apps not being maintained any more?
Currently I am in the middle

help "reshaping" dataframe
List,
I want to reshape my data, but I'm not sure how to do it... it might be a
simple task, but don't know which package does this.
"occ.data" (see below) is how my original data are arranged, and I know
that with melt() I can reshape it like "y" (see below). However, I just
want to build a matrix like the "y" matrix, but with only 2 dimensions.

Problem creation tensor
Hi guys,
I need some help to analyzing my data.
I start to describe my data: I have 21 matrices, every matrix on the
rows has users and on columns has items, in my case films.
Element of index (i, j) represent the rating expressed by user i about item j.
I have a matrix for each of professions.
An example of a this type of matrix is:

remove 0 rows from a data frame
Dear all,
As part of a larger function, I am randomly removing rows from a data
frame. The number of removed rows is determmined by a Poisson distribution
with a low mean. Sometimes, the random number is 0, and that's when the
problem starts:
My data frame:

occ x y dbh age

802 0 2951.892 3083.769 8 40.6

Problem with a Win16 application fonts
Hi all,
I have a win16 app running. It works ok, but the fonts are almost unreadable. I've tried to change the fonts with winecfg changing the dpi and the options on the Desktop Integration tab, but only the dialogs get changed, the main window doesn't update. I've used winetricks to download all the fonts, but it didn't improve.
Are there any special changed that can be made to

Questions for "domist... subscript out of bounds"
Hi all,
I am a new user for R.
I faced a questions about subscript out of bounds.
Although I checked some other helps before I sent this email, I still don't know
how to deal with this problems.
I want to use "domain" function to run species distribution model in R.
I used "sp.occ.do<-domain(env.pre, pred_train, factors=c('continent')) &

simple repeated measures model: dumb user baffled!
I am in the process of transferring from an old version of S+ to using
R having used a variety of other packages in the past. I'm hugely
impressed with R but it has an excellent but depressing habit of exposing
that I'm not a professional statistician and has done so again.
Someone has run a nice little repeated measures design on my advice,

duplicates() function
I need a function which is similar to duplicated(), but instead of
returning TRUE/FALSE, returns indices of which element was duplicated.
That is,

Problem to remove loops in a routine
Dear R-users,
I have written the following code to generate some trellis plots. It
works perfectly fine except that it is quite slow when it is apply to my
typical datasets (over several thousands of lines). I believe the
problem comes from the loops I am using to subset my data.frame. I read
in the archives that the tapply function is often more efficient than a
loop in R. Unfortunately ,

Listing elements of a 4D array
Dear list,
I'm having trouble to see how my elements on a 4 dimensional array are
listed.
For example, I generated the following array:
junk.melt=melt(occ.data,id.var=c("Especie", "Site", "Rep", "Año"),
measure.var="Pres")
y=cast(junk.melt, Site ~ Rep ~ Especie ~ Año)
Now, I want to be able to look at how my species (Especie) are listed, in

error message in simulation
Dear R-users,
I am a dentist (so forgive me if my question looks stupid) and came across
a problem when I did simulations to compare a few single level and two
level regressions.
The simulations were interrupted and an error message came out like 'Error

My collegue suggested that this might be due to my codes

MSW segfaults II
Hi
Think I tracked down why Windows suddenly went horrible crashy - the
newest SWIG release generates slightly different code for object
tracking, so our fixmodule.rb wasn''t picking up the broken line, so we
got a nasty regression.
Anyway, the patch (SVN:862) gives me a major improvement in stability
Windows. Please could you let me know how SVN HEAD is working for you;
