Migrations + foreign keys
Hi all, In the AWDR author use the execute method to declare foreign keys: execute "alter table.... add constraint.... foreign key...." Is there a ruby sintax to declare a foreign key in a migration class? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Support for foreign keys in Migrations
Is there any work being done to add support for defining foreign keys in ActiveRecord Migrations? If not is it something that people would find useful or do most people here believe in the "Application Database" style over the "Integration Database" style [1] as defined by Fowler? I''d love to see support for foreign keys in Migrations. For selfish reasons

Using Application.rhtml as layout for all controllers
I put my nav system in application layout. that way any controller loading will have the nav system. I have one problem though - the <%= yield %> is in the body, so how would my controllers specify other css files? my application layout would look like this: <html> <head> title css include javascript include </head> <body> nav system <%=yield%>

Testing with foreign keys
I''m looking for a plugin/whatever for preloading fixtures, to run tests with FKs defined. Specifying load order just doesn''t work for me, I need to purge the test db, load all fixtures, and only then create the FK constraints. Any suggestions? Rails 1.1.6: Stronger fix, backports, and full disclosure
The cat is out of the bag, so here''s the full disclosure edition of the current security vulnerability. With Rails 1.1.0 through 1.1.5 (minus the short-lived 1.1.3), you can trigger the evaluation of Ruby code through the URL because of a bug in the routing code of Rails. This means that you can essentially take down a Rails process by starting something like /script/profiler, as the code

Migrations: only one table per migration file?
Hi all I have a new migration file created that adds some tables and fills one with some data: create_table :sound_styles do |t| t.column :name, :string, :null => false end create_table :show_types do |t| t.column :name, :string, :null => false end create_table :countries do |t| t.column :name, :string, :null => false end ActionView::Helpers::FormOptionsHelper::COUNTRIES.each

Having a problem adding a foreign key
I keep getting this exception "SQLite3::SQLException: no such column: books.user_id: SELECT "books".* FROM "books" WHERE ("books".user_id = 4)" ,which sounds like there is no user_id in books table. So i just installed foreigner plugin and added " t.integer :user_id, :null => false" and "add_foreign_key(:books, :users)" in book

Limit number of connections
Hello again, I have a router/nat linux box. I managed to create some HTB classes and everything is OK. The guaranteed bandwidth is never reached. So what can I do to limit the number of connections/computer? I want to make sure that

foreign key support in mysql adapter
Hi! I''m using Migration to define my database schema and these "ALTER TABLE t ADD FOREIGN KEY..." look really ugly - that''s why I wanted to ask it would be possible to simply add add_foreign_key method to ActiveRecord? Are there any reasons this isn''t yet implemented? Greetings, Esad -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

CISCO 7940 United_States/7960-tones.xml
I have a smartnet contract for this phone, and have searched high and low for this file on the Cisco website. Multi-databases support
Hi, While I was hacking ovirt-server, I have found that it's currently restricted to Postgres DB. Even if I like postgres for serious work on a server, I really prefer to hack/dev locally on a Sqlite or MySQL DB. I have googled on rails in order to find a good answer for the "foreign key problem" which forces OVirt to stay on pg. I have found a plugin on this particular

railish icons?
This is a little off topic but someone here knows, I''m sure... Does anyone have a good site to find freely available standard icons for things like add/edit/delete/save? I''m looking for a set of clean and simple matching icons that capture that Railsy-Web 2.0 feel... Maybe icons aren''t Railsy... Steven -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Lighttpd segfaults on first access
I just got a new Debian Sarge server and followed the brainspl.at "Debian Lighttpd Rails Stack" tutorial. The only place I deviated was the version of Lighty. The page uses 1.4.7 and I spotted that 1.4.10 was available. I installed that and couldn''t get anywhere. Lighty died on first access from the test rails app, and even from a ultra basic static config. No log,

[OT] O''Reilly Cookbooks
Hi, Has anyone gotten the "roughcuts" of the Ruby and Rails cookbooks? If you have the Pragmattic Rails Cookbook is the O''Reilly worth it? Also can you download PDF''s of their "roughcuts". The website is kind of vague, it just mentions online access (whatever that means). Thanks in advance.

should_receive_chain
Do you often find yourself doing this: active = double(''active'') active.should_receive(:first) users = double(''users'', active: active) account.should_receive(:users).and_return(users) for this: account.users.active.first ? Of course, we could use stub_chain, but that doesn''t let us know *where* the chain broke. Would you like to do this?

does rails enforce referential integrity???
Hi, Is rails supposed to support referential integrity? That is rails either support to be able to ensure that when a new contact is created this can only happen if a valid suberb is associated with it, and which mechanisms of the below are supposed to do this? (a) using DB foreign key constraints information as a basis? (b) using the "has_one" line in the model file to enfore? If

Need help in View Spec
Hello everyone: I am kind of puzzled in writing spec on view partials. I can not find much information about the "should have_tag" syntax in Rspec. Can rspec test a particular attribute of a tag (e.g. input tag)? Let me put an example here: #../view/group/_index <div id="test"> <input type="button" value="update" onclick="update()"
