FEAR 2 on WINE 1.1.21???
Hi there, I got this problem, it's making me frantic: I got fear 2 as a present and installed it via wine, after installing vcrun2008 with winetricks, the game worked perfectly(wine 1.1.18/19). The Texture were black at 1st, but deactivating the game's graphic effect Ambient Lighting(not sure about the name, but it's the last option in the fear 2 graphic settings) fixed the game.

Mounting multiple regular files as a filesystem
I''m trying to create a multi-device filesystem on top of regular files (not actual disks), and mount that to a loopback device. For a filesystem created on a single file, it works fine, but for a filesystem across multiple files, it doesn''t. dd if=/dev/zero of=img1 bs=4096 count=65536 dd if=/dev/zero of=img2 bs=4096 count=65536 dd if=/dev/zero of=img3 bs=4096 count=65536 dd

Video capture on CentOS (6)
Hello, I need to do some analog video capture and I was wondering what is the status of this in CentOS 6. The last information I could find was here (obviously for CentOS 5): http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2009-September/082521.html Could anybody recommend a not-too-expensive video capture cards (PCI, USB, fireWire, ...) which would be well supported (drivers easily available in base,

Xen VGA Passthrough - GTX 480 successfully quadrified to quadro 6000 (softmod) - more than 4GB of RAM for Win XP 64 Bits
Hi Gordan, I received my Asus GTX 480 today (bought on ebay). Finally I succeeded in - quadrifying my GTX 480  into a Quadro 6000 ( softmod). - overpassing the 3-4GB of RAM on Windows XP 64 bits (domU) by applying a well known patch for Xen. - playing Crysis 2 and Darksiders II for a few minutes. http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/953254ScreenshotXenSoftModedQuadro6000.png Using nvlfash I

Re: pulseaudio under ubuntu lucid
Update on this topic. I have just bought a new computer (My previous one was 8 years old and showing its age) and I tried timidity instead of fluidsynth. Midi playback works fine on both the midi player and notation processor in Wine with Pulse Audio enabled.

Sound card recommendation?
Can anyone recommend a good high-end sound card to use on a streaming server? Basically all I need are two channels, a good 96 kHz sampling chip, and it needs to run on Linux. -- Jeff Simmons jsimmons@goblin.punk.net Simmons Consulting - Network Engineering, Administration, Security "You guys, I don't hear any noise. Xen VGA Passthrough - GTX 680 successfully hard-moded to GRID K2
Hi Gordan, I wanted to let you know that today I decided to have a try for my GTX 680. Gigabite GTX 680 2048 MB GDDR5. I know that this particular card could be hard-moded to GRID K2 so VGA passthrough could work. Following instructions found on http://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/hacking-nvidia-cards-into-their-professional-counterparts/420/ I just removed two resistors. Here is a screenshot

FEAR Combat mouse lag/choppy
I've been trying to get FEAR Combat to work out with WINE and, at first, had no problem with any mouse lag. Then, started getting ridiculous and unplayable choppy mouse lag. All while the game itself runs over 100 FPS. The mouse lag kills it. I'm running WINE 1.3.17 on Ubuntu Maverick (64-bit) 10.10 Please and thank you anyone who can help me with this! D:

Problems with Fear 2 Project Origin
Hi guys I have taken a rather long strange trip through linux, jumping from one distro to another and I've settled on Arch Linux. Anyway I seem to have a problem with Fear 2. I cannot get the sound to work. It works during the first two logo videos when you start the game, but will not work afterward. I have several other games all through Steam that work fine but this game has sound issues. I

Windows shortcuts (Fear server)
Is there a way to make windows shortcuts work under wine. The Fear server exe (a FPS game) looks for a server config file somewhere in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ which is a shortcut in the directory the server.exe is located in. I've tried naming a folder the same as the shortcut name in windows but that didn't work. I've also tried executing it with wine fearserver.exe

I followed all the directions and i think I've done everything right because i managed to play wow without any problems except one (well moderate fps too but i can config that). The sound doesn't work at all. In the wine config audio devices, I have selected the ALSA drivers but even with OSS it doesn't work. I tried

Running R version 2.13.1 under Ubuntu 10.10 (kernel version 2.6.35-30-generic) on a x86-64 laptop with gfortran 4.4, I'm trying to install and use the FEAR package from http://www.clemson.edu/economics/faculty/wilson/Software/FEAR/fear.html. I downloaded the the FEAR 1.15 package for 64-bit Linux (compatible with R-2.12.0 compiled with GCC, GNU Fortran 4.1.2, Linux kernel 2.6.16.60 SMP) to the
