need help printing to Brother MFC-3320CN
I'm trying to print in Linux to this Windows-only printer. I'm using LPRng. Both the printer and my windows interface (win4lin) are on the same LAN. I've added a new printer device lp5 in /etc/printcap, with an if line for the smbprint script when I send a command to that printer. A logfile reports that the server name and service name are correctly passed to the smbclient program.

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please help ! We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel 2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC, the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5, and Slackware 8.1,

possible regression in wine1.2-rc7 - GUI and VSTs
hello, I have been using wine for quite a while, with many applications. mostly though, i am using wine for VST support via wineASIO. For the most part, this method works extremely well. many of the plugins i use work pretty much flawlessly. the only real exception is that occasionally the VST's GUI will cause an xrun in jackd. this hardly ever matters, as most of the time i am not using

curious unpacking issue
I'm not sure when exactly this started, but currently when I specify a ramfs image via the initrd line in grub, kinit picks it up as an initrd and tries (and fails) to unpack it and run linuxrc from it. I'm assuming this is not the intended behavior. Can anyone point me into the proper direction for unpacking an initramfs image ontop of the in-kernel image? Currently, I am using kernel

Unpacking of archive failed??
Greetings, I have just been given a VPS with a fresh, minimal Centos 4.2 installation. When I ran "yum update" it went on updating some tenths of packages and signalled this error: Updating : perl ####################### [24/88] Updating : rpm-python ####################### [25/88] Updating : MAKEDEV

Why Clang is unpacking my StructType Function arguments
Hi: We are currently building an internal solution based on LLVM/Clang technologies which involves generating LLVM IR based on Bitcode generated by Clang from C codes. We have a C function which prototype looks like the following: typedef struct { int (*allocFunction)(void* x, void* y); void* YY; } Type4; int bar (Type1 *x, Type2 *y, Type3 *z, Type4 bar) When we compile this code

Reshape - strange outputs
Dear R Users, I am using the reshape package to reformat gridded data into column format using the code shown below. However, when I display the resulting object, a single column is fomed (instead of three) and all the latitude values (which should be in either column one or two) are collected at the bottom. Also, the NA values aren't removed, despite this being requested in the code. Code:

Regex for ^ (the caret symbol)?
Hello R-helpers, I am trying to search for string that includes the caret symbol, using the following code: grepl("latitude^2",temp) And R doesn't like that. It gives me: > temp<-c("latitude^2","latitude and latitude^2","longitude^2","longitude and longitude^2") > temp [1] "latitude^2" "latitude and

Subset returning unexpected result
Dear all, I am attempting to subset a data frame based on a range of latitude values. I want to extract the values of 'interception' where latitude ranges between 50 and 60. I am doing this using the following code, yet it doesn't return the results I expected: > test <- subset(int1901, Latitude>=50 & Latitude <60, select=c(Latitude, Interception)) > head(test)

function: colvolve
Hi list, I have a problem to solve which I believe I shoudl use the convolve to solve it, but I could not figure out how to do it. I got mydata, which is a dataframe which has 7 locations, each location has a longitude, latitude and a value. considering a step of 0.5 degree for longitudes and latitudes, I got 15 points for longitude and 15 points for latitude. Then I created a grid, mygrid, which

Reshape: 'melt' numerous objects
Dear R Users, I'm trying to use the reshape package to 'melt' my gridded data into column format. I've done this before on individual files, but this time I'm trying to do it on a directory of files (with variable file names) - therefore I have to also use the 'assign' command. I have come up against a couple of problems however and am therefore seeking advice... >

using match-type function to return correctly ordered data from a dataframe
I am regularly running into a problem where I can't seem to figure out how maintain correct data order when selecting data out of a dataframe. The below code shows an example of trying to pull data from a dataframe using ordered zip codes. My problem is returning the pulled data in the correct order. This is a very simple example, but it illustrates a regular problem that I am running into.

help to use ppp in spatial analysis
Hi, i am using spatstat package for spatial data analysis and now i have a problem to create a point pattern. The points are in file "points.txt" (first column for Latitude and second column for Longitude ) and I imported them and separated each columns in two arrays x and y. If I plots x and y ( e.g plot(x,y) ) the result appears in square area without problems and the scale is

Determine if a set of x and y-latitude points are inside of a polygon using R
Objective: Determine if a set of x and y-latitude points are inside of a polygon using R. Lets say I have 9 polygons. Where I have labeled the polygons to be checked from 1-9. The problem I?m running into is running the point.in.polygon to check if those points are in one of several polygons, as my code overwrites the result. To accomplish this I am using the R-built in function called

lattice library: xyplot and polygons
Dear R-Helpers, Is there a way to draw shaded (filled) polygons in panel graphs produced by xyplot ? I made different trials (see below) with polygon() and grid.polygon() but polygons are not drawn (probably for the same reason that prevents the use of lines, points, etc. in xyplot panels). Thanks in advance, Renaud > Water id label longitude latitude 515 21 Zone inondable
