Network play in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Hello, I have installed C&C: Red Alert 2 in Ubuntu. Now I want to play in a network. I have already put the wsock32.dll [1] into the game directory and have set up an overwrite rule for wsock32 in winecfg. It should replace the IPX protocol with UDP protocol. Now there is a network card shown in the settings [2] and the network menu opens ingame now. I have set up Red Alert 2 on different

Self compiled wine does not find CD-Rom
Hello, there seems to be an odd behaviour regarding the CD-Rom drives in wine depending on whether you run a precompiled version (in my case a Debian package) or compile wine for yourself (same version). Background is that there seems to be a regression in wine which I wanted to debug. The regression is in a game which checks for the CD first and then shows an intro and a menu (which has

Stopping "Open with" menu items from being created by wine
How do I stop "A Wine Application" from being added (sometimes multiple times) to my desktop environment's "Open With" menus? This is very annoying and I never want these items added for any file type. I really do not want to have to remove them after they're created, either. The few file types that I want opened by a wine program, I have added an appropriate menu

Wine and Gnome menus...
Hi all, I've spent several days tinkering with Wine and have uncovered what seems to be a mess: Menus in Gnome for Wine applications... I'm running Debian 4.0 (Etch) with a few backports, and Gnome 2.14.3. I've progressed from the version of Wine that's in the Etch repositories, 0.9.25-2.1, through the one in backports, 1.0-rc1-1, to the current 1.1.1 from the WineHQ

Which version of wine am I using?
I'm currently running Ubuntu 8.10. When I search for Wine in Synaptic it tells me I have version 1.1.14 installed, but on the about tab in the Wine config window it says I'm using 0.9.60. I'm left wondering who I am being lied to by. Any ideas?

[Wine 1.3] wine changes gnome mime settings !
[Ubuntu 10.04/GNOME/Wine 1.3] What the hell .. I discovered that wine changed a lot of MIME types ! [No, I didn't even install any applications with wine or changed anything with winecfg] For example (mimeapps.list): "image/jpeg=wine-extension-jpg.desktop;wine-extension-jfif.desktop;wine-extension-jpeg.desktop;". Which 'causes GNOME trying to open a JPG with Internet Explorer

GNOME menu entries for wine run games
I have been trying to add a launcher to the gnome menu for some of my wine games, but I have found that when I add them to the menu the games complain about missing files, I assume because it is looking for the rest of the game files in the directory that the launcher is in. This doesn't happen when I run the same command within the games directory they work fine. I used to have this problem

Wine menus - rebuilding, deleting
Hi I have a few questions about Wine's menu handling: 1. Is there some kind of command that will build a wine menu based on all the files in the standard locations (Start menu and Desktop)? This would be useful for rebuilding the Wine menu after deleting it. (Since deleting the menu entries belonging to a single prefix is not easy) winemenubuilder seem to take only single shortcuts as

Had a previous problem with a program not installing, in Wine, correctly, so I uninstalled Wine, but had to manually delete the Wine menu items in the Gnome 'Applications' menu list. After reinstalling Wine, the menu items did not install again. I can manually add the items to the Gnome 'Applications' menu, but do not know what the true names of the Wine applications that are
