Raw Printing, was cupsaddsmb and .inf files
Howdy, I've just successfully configured a win2k system to print on a raw queue, but apparenty not through samba. I'm courious as to why that didn't work, and would like to help update the documentation to cover this in more detail, if only I understood it better. I started by following the directions here under "Raw Print Serving Vendor Drivers on Windows Clients":

Printing to raw cups queue from Windows XP
I have a little home network that uses an Epson C82 served out via Samba from an RH9 Linux box. When I set this up a year ago, the only way I could get printing to work was through a raw Cups queue. (Well, actually, I never tried anything but CUPS). It all worked well enough, except for an annoyingly long delay between the issuing of the print command and the start of output to the

Samba, print$, HP Laserjet 8500, XP
Hi, If anyone is successfully using the HP LJ8500 driver that comes with Windows XP in your print$ share in Samba 3.0.x, can you please mail me privately. I understand the issues I am seeing are probably not Samba related. In case they ARE Samba related, here is the main issue. Printing color graphics onto an envelope from MS Word 2000. The first time an envelope is printed, the background

Print Corruption - Vendor Driver, CUPS in RAW mode
Have other expirenced "bad drivers" which corrupt the output when brinting via Samba / CUPS in RAW mode? I have a HP LJ4000 and some little label printer working fine on a network. Today a Gestetner 3222 was added (also goes by some Richo PN#) with their current PCL6 and PCL5e driver. The printer does not have its PS card installed, so I can't use that. Multiple pages are printed

I have a RedHat 9 installation running XFS. Cups 1.1.17-13 is installed I have compiled and installed Samba 2.2.8a and everything appears to be working apart from a minor printing problem. After I have installed a printer on my Win2K workstation I can print via samba to the cups printer using the windows PCL print driver and it works fine. However the printer status is always 'Access denied,

Samba Cups Windows 98 Raw Printing - need help
Hello - I am trying to use Samba and Cups to serve a file share and a "raw" printer to a Windows 98 client. I am using Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.12, Samba 3.0.14a, and Cups 1.1.23. I can access the data share from the Samba server, but the printer share does not show up when I try to use it, even if I specifically type in the name of the share (\\data_dog\win98_photosmart) it still

CUPS printing from Windows
I have replaced a WinNT4 PDC with a Samba server. I'm not experiencing problems with file sharing/locking at all, but printing is another issue. In this network, there are several dot-matrix printers that are ONLY printed to using a DOS application, and a laser (HP 2300, PCL and PS) that is primarily used for Windows printing. Problem: Windows clients (using downloaded drivers from

Embedded nuls in strings
Hi, ?rawToChar 'rawToChar' converts raw bytes either to a single character string or a character vector of single bytes. (Note that a single character string could contain embedded nuls.) Allowing embedded nuls in a string might be an interesting experiment but it seems to cause some troubles to most of the string manipulation functions. A string with an embedded 0:

Win2K. Raw CUPS printing, driver download
Using Debian Sarge, samba, CUPS, and an HP G85 mutifunction with HPOJ to use the G85 USB connection, I've been able to get raw printing to work, and Point 'n' Print driver download to work, but not at the same time. The driver download was a chore, because of HP's proprietary install program. Had to install the driver locally to get the needed files and copy them manually to the

Respawn of smbd
Hi, We are using Samba (Tried with both 3.0.22 and 3.0.23) in a Linux Server and two XP machines are connected to the same. Some stuff (like Printer Cancel) is not working from one XP (say PC1) and it is working from the other machine (say PC2). >From the analysis, it is found that smbd child process for PC1 is getting exited often and another process for the same PC is getting created. printing from W98 to Samba/Cups
Hi Gang! I've recently set up a TAO Linux box, which has SAmba 3.0.2 and Cups 1.1.17. I have a Lexmark Optra Color 40 Postscript inkjet printer directly attached to the parallel port, and working. After considerable pain I was able to get XP Home to print to that printer (using the 15 step method, as the simple method kept refusing to work). Now I'm trying to get Windoze 98 to print to

lpr / lpd in raw mode
Hi Printing in Samba is done this way: 1) Win 95 / 3.1 / NT uses the printer driver you selected there the same way, as if you would print directly to the parallel port, but insted if sending the data to the parallel port, it is send over the network to your samba server. 2) Samba recieves the data, and stores it in a file on your server. 3) Then, lpr ist called with the file the data was

Printing with samba + lpr
Hi. After hours and hours of problems I finally got my HP LaserJet IIIp to print via my samba server. The only problem that remains is that lpr (or lpq perhaps?) doesn't clean up in /tmp after printing. I've tried to find the problem by debugging smbd with strace (with -f) to find out what really happens. This is the only "error" i found when searching after

printing without server side drivers
Running RH9, CUPS 1.1.17, hpijs 1.3 It is my understanding that the server Samba is running on doesn't need drivers for the printer it is sharing. However, the drivers I do have installed on the server don't work quite right (chop off the top), and I see now that anything printed through Samba also has its top chopped off. Which would indicate to me that it is infact using the CUPS

Error: Raw backtrace and index cache
Firstly, 2.2.13 is about 5 years old. So there's that. It would be helpful if you can reproduce this with 2.2.36. Also, you forgot to actually include in your log snippet the panic. So maybe few more lines before the Raw backtrace? Aki On 20.11.2019 10.54, Maciej Milaszewski IQ PL via dovecot wrote: > Hi > I have "problem" with dovect 2.2.13 from repo debian8 and I don't
