No Sound in Spotify with WINE
Apologies if you have also seen this post on the Ubuntu Wine forum, as I have cross posted it there. I hope this is not bad form, but I wished to have the best chance of getting some assistance as possible. Spotify has suddenly stopped working for me. It used to work fine about a month ago. The only recent change is that I have upgraded Ubuntu to 10.10 (previously I had 10.04) I don't think

No sound, no information why, where to start?
Wine and spotify used to work. Now it doesn't, and I don't know why. Main problem is that Wine doesn't give any information back regarding why audio fails, only that it fails. When using winecfg, opening the Audio tag, choosing Alsa Driver and pressing "Test sound", a pop up reports "Audio test failed!". Nothing more. Choosing OSS, switching to emulation, same

No more alsa oss emulation?
The support for ALSA OSS emulation seems to have been dropped in Wine 1.3.19. Before 1.3.19 Wine had no problem including the ability to use OSS output even with just ALSA installed, but from 1.3.19 and onward OSSv4 is required to build Wine with OSS support. Personally I find this kind of problematic since a lot of applications work better with Wine using OSS instead of ALSA, and sometimes the

Re: Poor sound quality on anything other than "emulation&qu
Hello everyone, my first post here :) I know this is an old thread but is similar with my problem. IMHO the sound card type is not relevant because I'm having the same issue on every PC and card I've tried so far, so I'll skip that. At the moment I'm playing "Enclave" using wine 1.1.43 compiled from source on PCLinuxOS and Mandriva, and the behavior is the same no

Ices and ALSA / OSS
Hello Karl In reference to: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/2004-June/007473.html I am also receiving this error with an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 device running with the ice1712 ALSA module. I've not quite figured out how to test it with a hw pcm because it isn't accepting any of my formats. I've no idea how ALSA's plug opens it but I've tried all the obvious ones,

Correctly setting up sound with Intel High Definition ICH7
Hi, Earlier this day I started a thread about Skype not working with outgoing sound. Now I wonder if it's not a problem with my soundcard. I had a vague suspicion about this, but since it's way off the original topic, I decided to start a new thread about this. Here's what the soundcard looks like: [root at grossebertha etc]# lspci | grep -i audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Wine USB sound is OSS only?
I have a USB soundcard that I have tried to run with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It doesn't work unless I set winecfg to oss instead of alsa. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? How do I get alsa over USB? Thanks, Susan Cragin

Surround Sound and EAX
Hi there, I've been searching for a while now, for an answer, whether or not EAX and surround sound is supported in wine. And all I've found are contradictory opinions. So, still I can't get neither to work, and I hope, this is the right place to ask for help. [Wink] As I understood it, wine should be able to play surround sound, when alsa is able to do it. Sound failure in CentOS 6.8
Sound stopped working on my CentOS 6.8 system several months ago. I've tried everything I can to find out what's wrong. It is not the hardware; if I boot into a live dvd of 6.8 (or any other OS), the sound works perfectly. So something must have changed in my configuration. I've compared files on my system and another CentOS 6.8 system with working sound and I haven't found

No Sound Over nVidia HDMI
I've never had any issues with Wine and audio up until now. The machine is a HTPC which is connected to a TV via HDMI. Audio works perfectly in everything without changing any additional settings, but in Wine it just refuses to work. This machine has no other sound devices other than the HDMI audio output, the onboard audio is disabled. Initially I just got the ALSA message about no master

Two soundcards. Use both with wine. Problem
Hi, I have an integrated soundcard and I have just bought a new sound card to play UltraStar (open source karaoke) in the 2-players mode. This game is know to work fine with wine and the last time (three years ago?) that I did this, it worked without special configuration. But it was an older version of wine, ubuntu and ultrastar and now it seems not to work. The problem is that in the

Getting lowest latency sound?
I have been trying to get lowest-latency sound (with highest fidelity) to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have Jaunty and the latest RT kernel, which I know has problems for many applications but works fine to run DNS. (It will not, however, install the program nor train it.) I set up real-time audio access as follows: sudo su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >>

MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
this is almost certainly a driver or device mapping issue. the answer depends on whether you use alsa or oss. if you're using oss: use alsa :) if you're using alsa: are both cards correctly installed? what does aplay -l say? what does lsmod | grep snd say? have you specified the correct device to use? depending on your installation, the onboard sound chip might be set to be the default
