1 to 1 nat of multiply pptp tunnels
Hi !
Recently i switched my internet provider, to get more speed but another
braindead setup regarding public ip addresses.
I now have 4 PPTP Tunnel available, of which i''m using one as the
gateway ip doing masquerading to other machines in my local lan,
excluding three other machines, which i would like to use 1:1 nat to
get them a direct access to one of the pptp tunnels.

ARP requests are interpreted as a martian
Shorewall 4.5.1.1
I have 5 interfaces on a centos box, the first two are internal on two
different subnets, the next two are two different ISP''s and the last one
is a private network for testing and administration. The second internal
subnet (eth1) is rejecting all the arp requests to it and I get the
following in the log files ever second or two -

Proxy ARP working from Internet but not from fw and loc
Hello everybody.
I could not find an answer to my problem in the archive. (But that may just
be me :-) )
I have a problem with proxy arp and connection from loc (localnet) and from
the firewall.
Works fine from internet to dmz / proxy arp and vise versa.
I have a feeling the solution is simple, but I''m no guru in Linux routing
etc.
The problem seems to be the routing setup.

Problem setting up Shorewall with 2 public IP''s
Greetings.
I run an Amateur Radio system (ampr.org) that requires 2 public ip''s on a RH 9.0 box. The primary one is 209.52.173.97 and is used for connections to the normal linux system and the usual apps such as web, ssh, smtp, etc. The secondary address is 209.52.173.98 and is routed via a pseudoslip link to the systems ampr address of 44.135.163.21. This setup takes place in the

a long hard road
OK one factor that I had not mentioned previously is this is my first
time running Debian (yes I managed to do that since 1997...). Yesterday
I found /etc/network/interfaces and understood what it does!
My system is like the "About My Network" example except that I have 2
class Cs in the DMZ.
>From what I understand I use the same IP on the NET and DMZ interfaces.

shorewall-perl not handling "logmartians" correctly
I''ve set up a simple 2-interface Linux router using shorewall-perl 4.0.8
(and upgraded to 4.0.9). Everything works flawlessly. One small
exception I have noticed (since I''m a new shorewall user I
assume this is probably an error on my part).
1. Problem:
With no "logmartians" entries in /etc/shorewall/interfaces,

(Sorry, my previous post was sent in HTML format)
I am having a hell of a time with shorewall...
I have a Dlink DCM202 Cable modem with the Ethernet connected directly to
eth0 on the linux box. Then I have a second nic on the linux box connected
to a hub for
the internal network.
I am trying to allow traffic from the internet connect to my FTP and WEB
servers on my Winbloze box on the lan.

Routing all connections through a OpenVPN tunnel
Hi all,
I have set up a working OpenVPN2 connection between my Server and my
gateway at home.
Now I want all traffic to be routed through this VPN connection.
Currently everything is going through eth1 to the internet (to the gateway
of the University which forwards it to the internet :-).
We must use a prox-server and because of this I am not abel to watch the

Questions about NAT and MASQ and more
Hello,
I''m working on a Shorewall-1.2 setup on a _remote_ debian (woody)
firewall with several live web and mail servers behind it. I know doing
this remotely is a *really* bad idea, and I''d rather not be in this
situation, but so it goes... Worst case scenario, I lock myself out and
have to drive an hour to get physical access to the machine and restore
service. Anyhow,

Mail server on DMZ
Hello,
I have this problem: when my mail server on the DMZ starts a connection to
the internet it''s ip (213.58.230.26) is "masqueraded" with the firewall ip
(213.58.230.50). I wouldn''t mind but there is a one customer who rejects the
connection because it makes reverse dns and finds no dns entry for the
firewall ip.
How can i correct this?
Thanks,

Wireless connectivity issues
Hello,
I cannot establish Xserver connection via wireless subnet, while telnet is
working fine. There was a similar problem before in Shorewall over IPSEC
that Tom had fixed. Also, ping is working, but traceroute is not. Finally,
PuTTY gets a connectivity error after couple minutes of inactivity over
wireless when connected to the firewall/gateway.
Wireless is configured per instructions in

SFTP
(anonymous post) I have a simple 2 interface firewall setup and all is
good, almost. I am hosting virtual websites and DNS behind shorewall no
problem. However I am trying to use SFTP via a different port number and
have no luck even though Putty works well. Is there anything weird to
sftp and shorewall? My lab uses a different firewall (firestarter) and
it works OK.
I am using;

Squid and DMZ (ProxyARP)
Hello All,
I have a question about setting up the shorewall firewall for squid, I
followed the instructions on "Using Shorewall with Squid" --> "Squid Running
in the DMZ" section. For some reason I am unable to get the program to work.
I am able to have the squid work properly by using squidclient program, but
once I setup the firewall to use the redirect I am unable to

RE: Proxy ARP working from Internet butnotfromfwand loc
Hi Alex, and thanks for your time.
Probably not.
The servers are only configured like they where when they where parallel to
the fw.
Just the default gateway, same as for the external interface on the fw.
That''s what the documentation instructed to configure the servers using arp.
But is it required with extra configuration on the server connected via
proxy arp?
Or is it some parameter

Hi,
I have two public ip''s and i want to dedicate one ip for incoming and
outgoing to one server. I followed
http://www.shorewall.net/shorewall_setup_guide.htm and used the example of
the daughter system. I have a machine connected on vmbr0 with address
10.10.10.1 listening on port 80 www. Still I can''t connect to this system.
I''m forgetting something?

I''ve got shorewall installed on Mandrake 9.0
As I boot my computer ( single workstation ) I do not get any connection
to the net before doing; shorewall stop, shorewall clear, shorewall
restart. Only after giving those three instructions everything is
normal.
Is there an easy way fixing this ? Or else how can I prevent shorewall
starting-up at boot, in order to start it manualy once the

Proper setup for a router with 2 interfaces and a bridge on one?
I''m working on setting up a new router/server/etc. box.
I''m using Proxmox as the base system (Debian Lenny basically).
I''m trying to figure out the right way to configure Shorewall on it.
I''ve looked at some of the bridging info but they seem to all be
talking about single-interface setups.
Could someone look over my setup and give me some input into the
