Spore no-go
What on earth has happened to spore. It used to work fine with wine 1.1.12, no real problems. Picked it up today to have a game and nothing, it tries to load and don't even get to the front screen. I have wine 1.1.16 and have downgraded to 1.1.13 with no joy. I have Nvidia graphics driver 177, downgraded to 173 and no joy. That is a shame, I did enjoy that game and now it's not working.

Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Hi, While running Spore (steam version) on 1.1.42 with a GeForce 8600GT on Arch Linux x86-64, everything worked fine except for occasional DxDllReg.exe crashes. I have since replaced the card with an ATi Radeon HD4800 and the user interface now unbearably flickers, garbles (inflated bits of text and other UI elements appearing randomly) and generally looks far from correct (to the point where I

Spore stopped working
Hi. I'm using Fedora 9 (x86_64) and Wine 1.1.5. I updated my kernel today (my kernel version is 2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64), and since then Spore stopped working (crashing at startup). I found a log file in Spore's folder, and uploaded it to my server. A link: http://www.doom.co.il/Exception-Report-localhost-10-02-08-16.38.32-exception.txt When I'm trying to run Spore form the terminal

change graphic card ID
hi guys :) I would like to play SPORE with wine. I have read a lot of commands that this should be possible with the current wine build (witch special patch). My problem is, that SPORE doesn't like my graphiccard. So it alerts that my GC isn't supported by the game. Is it possible to change the graphiccard ID string, that wine will given to the game? greets from germany Hauke

Question about running SecuROM under WINE
I am new to WINE, and Unix-based systems in General. I have up until recently been using Windows XP Home, but after installing Spore, SecuROM was also installed onto Ring 0 of the Kernel and has pretty much fried my computer. Apparently, because of where it installed itself, it interfered with other programs and now I can't get anything to work right. So I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 for 64-bit

Spore
I'm a first-time Linux and Wine user, and I don't understand how to run Wine yet. I have Mint Elyssa, and I am trying to install Spore. When I try to run autorun.exe, this message appears: Error starting autorun program: Permission Denied I got this same message before and after installing Wine. Does this have anything to do with Securom, or am I just not understanding Wine?

What should I do with this patch?
Hi. I'm trying to run Spore, and I noticed that this patch is supposed to solve the problem where the server can't be found: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2008-September/061125.html Pardon my ignorance, but how do I use it? I have searched for information about this, but to no avail. Also, which version of GIT should I use? Found a lot of different packages here:

Hello, I'm quite new in Wine and haven't been able tu run any games. The last two games tested are installing fine but when I tried to launch them I have a message saying that graphic device is below our min specs. My graphic card is ATI V5250 Mobility and because I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 i can't install ATI proprietary drivers which are not supported anymore with xorg 1.6. So my

Noobish Question About Wine
I just switched over to Ubuntu from Mint, and I've finally installed Wine successfully. However, even after checking the Wine Wiki, I can't figure out how to install/run Windows programs. (The one I'm trying to do right now is Spore.) I've been fiddling around with winecfg for a while and I haven't managed to do anything yet. Could someone please give me (or link me to) a clear

Using MAANOVA functions
Dear R-users: I am using the package MAANOVA to analyze microarray data and have encountered problems when trying to plot data. I have tried emailing a MAANOVA discussion group, as well as the author of the package, and have not yet received a response so I am hoping that someone on this listserv can be of assistance. There are several functions in MAANOVA (riplot, resiplot) which call the

Like the title says, I have a very nasty virus on wine. I swear I've also encountered this same one (A few months ago) on a seperate vista machine. I Have a virus that does not seem to be doing anything, and stopped working after an 'X' reboot. However, It did try to execute a modified version of winlogo.exe (Windows logon executable), but we all know you can't log onto a Linux

Lego Star Wars and Spore are running slow suddenly.
I upgraded to Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, and Wine 1.1.8 some time last week, and then reinstalled Spore to give it some play. It worked fine for a couple of days, but now I'm in the space stage and the game is incredibly sluggish. This wasn't happening beforehand, it was running fast and marvellously smooth until I tried to stop a war on my home planet. This appears to be a recurring theme,
