FreeNX authenticates but no desktop on centos 5 ??
Hi all, I am new to CentOS and freeNX -- both look really awesome, a huge thanks to all the people making them happen. I am having a problem with freenx that appears to be specific to centos 5. my client authenticates but then no desktop comes up. however, when I connect to a similar machine running centos 4.4, I authenticate and the gnome desktop just pops up sweet as can be. I also have a vnc

freenx
Hello, I am having problems getting freenx running in CentOS 4.5 i386_64. I know this is not a new problem, however, I havn't found a solution in all the postings I found on the web. I did exactly what is supposed to work and described in detail at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX After doing that I can connect to the server with nxcleint without problem but I get only a black

new freenx and nx RPMS released, manual action for x86_64
There are new RPMS released for nx and freenx in the CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 Extras repository. I normally do not announce that here, as those can easily be obtained on a normal "yum upgrade/update", however in this case there are special actions required *_IF_* you have the x86_64 architecture for either CentOS-4 or CentOS-5 with the current versions of nx and freenx installed. (?) Loss of fullscreen mode with freenx-0.5.0-8.c4
I've currently got the nx-1.5.0-1.centos4.i386, freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch, and nxclient-1.5.0-141.i386 packages installed on a couple of CentOS 4 update 3 systems and I'm getting the same results on all of them. I got the new version of freenx via "yum update" and it appears to have "broken" fullscreen mode. The connection config file I have been using does have the

NX problems with centos 4.4
Hi, using centos 4.4, and freenx-0.5.0-10.c4 and nx-1.5.0-1.centos4 on a 8 CPU Amd Opteron system. If I access this system by nxclient-1.5.0 from some workstation (FC6) with Gnome desktop, then after a successful login the X11 windows have no windowmanager frame, so a handling of the X11 windows is very difficult. This effect does not appear when acessing the centos system by xdm. Is this a

freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing
We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm) and moved it to the testing repo. This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ... http://lwn.net/Articles/146825/ http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8489 (though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people) This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions much

FreeNX documentation and other miscellanea
I was having trouble connecting to the server that I am using for remote development so I updated things and rebooted. Connected into FreeNX nicely after that...wonder if there is issues with memory leaks or something... Anyway, it appears that the nxagent grabbed port 3000 which is what I was using for rubyonrails/webrick (I probably can change that) which sort of tells me that when I first

New freenx-0.6.0 and NX-2.1.0
All, I have put in the testing repository a new version of freenx-0.6.0 and nx-2.1.0 for both CentOS-4 and CentOS-5. This is using one set of SRPMS to build on either CentOS-4 or CentOS-5 RPMS. To get files from the testing repository, see: http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories Make sure you have the .el4 packages if testing on CentOS-4 or the .el5 packages if testing in CentOS-5. x2go (vs. freenx)?
Is anyone using x2go on Centos - and if so, is there any reason to think about switching from freenx? The old NX client for mac was a powerpc binary and is no longer supported under mountain lion - and their new alpha release crashed my mac after an OSX update so I'm curious if there is anything better around. (And I didn't like the way the new mac version changed the screen scaling

freenx/nx server part
The CentOS wiki has a page regarding the nomachine nx client setup ... But i think that a page describing the server part, including ssh key authentication, can be interesting for people wanting to use nx/freenx. Because by default, it will modify sshd_config to allow password authentication (even if configured manually to not do so ...) Range : can you create a new page ? or do we have to edit

FreeNX Shadowed Desktop issue
Hi All, I'm hoping someone will be able to offer some advice on desktop shadowing with the latest CentOS 4's FreeNX. FreeNX issues
I have just installed freenx on two seperate centos 5.0 boxes. I had freenx server working before performing a "yum update" (which upgraded centos to 5.1). I then rebooted the box and now the display starts to show on the client, but then terminates the connection for no reason (at least nothing in any server logs). Below is the session info on the client machine. NXPROXY - Version

FreeNX : forward audio from server to client ?
Hi, I setup a FreeNX server with a GNOME desktop, and I can access it from a client with the NoMachine client. Everything is running fine, and now I only have two problems left : audio and printing forwarding. I'll follow the "only-slay-one-dragon-at-a-time" rule and take care of audio first. Did anyone manage to forward sound with FreeNX ? Here, server and client are using

FreeNX on 64-bit success
I know a few people have been asking about running FreeNX on x86_64 machines. I've just installed the i386 versions of FreeNX and NX from Extras, and the openssl.i686 package, and it seems to be running happily on an x86_64 CentOS 4.4 machine.
