X-Sendfile, static files, windows
Jeremy, I found your old message with this title. I struck the same thing, where the current drive wasn''t the same as the drive I wanted to serve (some) files from. So here''s the patch to add to lib/mongrel/handlers.rb contains class DirHandler. I added two things, first to initialize: def initialize(path, listing_allowed=true, index_html="index.html")

random cpu spikes, EBADF errors
In May I had problem with mongrels suddenly consuming huge cpu resources for a minute or two and then returning to normal (load average spikes up to 3.8and then back down to a regular 0.2 over the course of 5 minutes, then again 1/2 hour later. or 4 hours later, no predictable rhythm). I posted to Litespeed forums because I thought the problem was there but didn''t get far. And a week

Errno::EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
I posted this to the discussion forum on rubyforge.org, but it appears that it would have been better to post here. Does anyone have any advice on how to resolve the problem reported at http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=6284&group_id=1306&atid=5145? favicon
im trying to figure out how to serve a favicon.ico for my app, does anyone have a line for Mongrel::Configurator? all i can see is that everyone seems to use the 404 handler...how boring.. uri "/favico", :handler => Mongrel::DirHandler.new(File.dirname(__FILE__)+"/favicon.ico") is sort of close, but it says The image ?http://m/favicon.ico? cannot be displayed, because it

X-Sendfile, static files, windows
i wrote a little camping app which serves the css, js and images statically using the Static class example i found on the camping wiki. everything works perfectly on my mac. once on windows the static files don''t get served. a 404 is returned. i have tried running the app using camping, webrick and mongrel, all give the same 404 response. here is an example value of X-Sendfile. css image url''s and :img problem
Hi, i have this controller class to serve static files. It works well for the stylesheet file under a /static directory, locating it, but the images referenced in the stylesheet do not appear. They are in the same /static folder, next to the stylesheet.css file. link :rel => ''stylesheet'', :href => R(Static, ''stylesheet.css''), :type =>

Mongrel and request.uri
Is there any reason for Mongrel to be stripping request.uri as described in this bug report: http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=5103&group_id=1306&atid=5145 I was planning on using mongrel to deploy my app but my login code depends on the full request.uri to redirect back after login. Greetings, Pedro.

Fwd: [PATCH (geoip)] use IO.pread from the io-extra lib if possible
I sent this to the author of geoip a few days ago and haven''t heard back, yet. Since he may be on vacation or busy, somebody may also hit this problem in the mean time, I figured I''d post the patch + git repo I sent him here. Unicorn users: The pread(2)/pwrite(2) syscalls are very useful for making libraries like this one (that rely on an on-disk database) compatible with

error when installing on jruby (fastthread dependency)
I''m running jruby trunk which has integrated rubygems 1.0.0 and when I try and install mongrel with gem it blows up when the fastthread dependency tries to do a native compilation. I couldn''t find a copy of the gemspec in the svn checkout but looking at the one installed when gem installing mongrel didn''t show any platform differentiation. There is platform

Mongrel HTTP Library 0.2.2 (Serving Directories)
Hey Folks, Another announcement of Mongrel -- the fastest little web server library for Ruby yet. This release is nice in that it should build on win32 better and it now sports a small DirHandler that can serve directories and files. This means Mongrel is closer to replacing WEBrick as a Rails debug runner. You can get the releases and information from: *

DirHandler in surplus slashing / unrequited unescaping
im using Mongrels to serve up /usr/portage/packages for other gentoo boxen. since i guess im the guinea pig with the DirHandler, ran into a couple issues: first, the client showed no files in the remote binhost, turns out the DirHandler was adding a trailing "/" to every filename, presumably making the client think they were directories, not files. attached is a patch which fixes this

serving static files
It seems that Merb is sending static files with Mongrel::DirHandler. (mongrel_handler.rb:52) if get_or_head and @files.can_serve(path_info) # File exists as-is so serve it up MERB_LOGGER.info("Serving static file: #{path_info}") @files.process(request,response) I haven''t done benchmarks and I''ve hardly glanced at DirHandler''s code but the

deployment survey
Hello Mongrels, Building on the last messages about Fastthread, can we get a detailed survey of the different ways people are deploying their applications? It will help with near-future Mongrel development. Please include the following things: * Framework, if any (Camping, Merb, Rails, Nitro, Ramaze, IOWA, Rack...) * Mongrel version * Mongrel handlers used (rails, dirhandler, camping,

502 proxy error, malformed request
If there are double quotes in the url, Firefox escapes them to %22 but Internet explorer gives \", which when proxied to Mongrel results in an HTTP parse error. Is there a RewriteRule or something I can employ to fix this? I''m dying here! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Plugin Question
I got some advice from Rick last night and started coding this handler to allow for time-based secure downloading similar to mod_secdownload that lighttpd offers. I got most of the code in the handler worked out and packaged into a gem but am still having the following problems: 1) I have a configuration script as follows require ''mongrel'' config = Mongrel::Configurator.new

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.12.4 -- Relaxed Parser, Date Fix
Hello Everyone, Just a small announcement for Mongrel 0.3.12.4 which fixes the following things: * Corrects the date format returned so that months are three chars only. * Fixes a problem where DirHandler wasn''t returning Last-Modified and Etag headers for unknown MIME types. * Implements a default mime type for anything it doesn''t know about, and lets you set it via an

ActiveRecorod observers don''t work in mongrel?
Am i wrong or do ActiveRecord observers not work in mongrel? Is there a work around for this? I am 100% sure of this because in my observer i put raise "whatever". Whenever I try update the model using the mongrel server I get a successful save. If I do it in webrick I get an exception raised. Any ideas what I should do? Because webrick is pretty annoying to work with. Thank
