Updateform with a has_many relationship ?
Hello all,
I would like to be able to update the "amount" of a certain item in
me order list.
The problem I run into is how to define the text_field element.
@order is the current order, which has_many :order_item which in turn
belongs_to :order.
order_item has a field "amount" which should be modified...
What I tried is this below, but I get a undefined method

Nested find(:all, :include => ) statements
Is there a way for me to do:
OrderItem.find(:all, :include => [:user, :product => [:supplier]]
So I don''t have a supplier_id on my order_item, but have it on my
product, which is part of order_item.

Text field not being submitted via form_remote_tag; works via form_tag
Hi everyone,
Newbie here. I''m trying to get a textual form element to submit in
the context of a form_remote_tag block and having little success.
Oddly (or perhaps not), using regular old form_tag in its place does
cause the elements to be submitted. Here''s the relevant partial ERb
code:
<%= form_remote_tag( { :url => { :action => :out, :id => pending_task } } )

form_remote_tag can only have one submit button?
I setup a form_remote_tag with several submit buttons, all of them share
the same name
( ''do_action'' ) and their values differ.
eg.
button1 named do_action with value ACTION1
button2 named do_action with value ACTION2,
etc
No matter which button I press the value passed is always the one
defined for the first of these buttons ( the correct value associated
with the pressed

dom id on form_remote_tag
I want to make use of a form_remote_tag to submit a form
asynchronously. Easy done. However, we also want to add an
observe_form tag to check for some value changes while the form is
being entered.
The observe_form tag needs a dom id to work on but I can''t see how to
enter an html option for the dom id of the form on the
form_remote_tag.
Any ideas?
Here is the form tag so far...

Are form_remote_tag and submit_to_remote mutually exclusive?
Do I need to use submit_to_remote in conjunction with or instead of
form_remote_tag? The description in the API docs. is confusing.
Is the combination of form_tag/submit_to_remote valid?
Is the combination of from_remote_tag/submit_tag valid?
Thanks,
Wes

form_remote_tag : additional onsubmit funct. possible ?
Is there a way to add onsubmit functionality to a form_remote_tag with
an additional javascript directive?
eg I''d like for an inline javascript to make the form''s div container
hidden as soon as the button is pressed to avoid having it possibly get
pressed again ( sometimes the rails response is slow enough for a user
to think they need to re-press it ).
example:

Is it possible to upload file with form_remote_tag?
I have tried to upload a picture file with file_column plugin and
form_remote_tag, but no success.
When I do request.params.inspect it shows null for picture parameters.
With normal form the file uploads nicely, so is it possible to upload
file with form_remote_tag?

form_remote_tag :onsubmit not working.
Hi,
Has anyone successfully implemented the :onsubmit option for
form_remote_tag. It doesn''t seem to work for me. Is there any specific
version of rails which is required for the same.
Here''s my piece of code.
<script>
function set_tojid(){
alert(''onsubmit'');
}
</script>
<%= form_remote_tag :update => '''', :url => {

Using form_remote_tag, setting the form name

:url => { :action => "dataentry_bottom_edit" } %>
And it makes this code:

Re: submitting form_remote_tag with text button?
I don''t have the time to check the details myself,
but have a look at the generated html. You''ll find, that
fom_remote_tag generates an onsubmit event handler
for the form.
Either take that code or invoke the onsubmit event.
(I would have thought that happens, when you call form.submit,
but never trust javascript ;-)

syntax for specifying :html fallback on form_remote_tag
Has anyone gotten the :html option for specifying a ''fallback'' action if javascript''s not enabled working on form_remote_tag (or remote_form_for)? I can''t figure out how to specify the action that''s supposed to be invoked if js _is_ enabled.
Or maybe I''m just misunderstanding how this thing is supposed to work. I was assuming

Problem using form_remote_tag and multipart
I have a form and e file field, and what I''m trying to do is when the

form_remote_tag it won''t accept :multipart => true. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot

rjs template modifying form_remote_tag
I would like to build a form which uses ajax on the first request, but
on a subsequent request uses the regular form_tag. The reason for
doing this is that I need a file upload in the second request, and so
I can''t use AJAX. I''ve tried using an rjs template to modify the
form_remote_tag''s id (using page.replace ''form_tag_id'', ...), but the

How show validation errors in form_remote_tag?
I suspect this has been asked 400 times, but Google yields 2-3 rather
complex gymnastics in blogs (and possibly dated), and searching list
archives on ruby-forum proves kinda useless.
Using standard forms, it''s fairly easy to use
@object.errors[:field_name] in the form to embed an error message right
next to the field that has the invalid entry. The controller uses a
simple conditional
