Help with missing values in the dataset
Dear all,
I am facing problem with inserting the scheduled day of Observation
in the dataset. In the dataset I have only relative time (table 1) and not
scheduled day of observation (day 1, 4, 8, 15, 22, 29, 36, 43).
I would appreciate if any one could suggest me how to proceed.
Eg:
Table 1 The real dataset looks like this with Time, DV ... etc

day, month, year functions
Hi list,
I'm trying to turn a date into something productive. (Not what you may be thinking....)
I want three functions so I could take a "date" object and get the day of week, month, and year from it.
xx <- as.Date("2006-01-05")
month(xx) equal 1
day(xx) equal 5
year(xx) equal 2006
I'm aware of the weekdays() and months() functions in the base package. But

Balance taking a lot longer than before
Hi devs,
I''ve been using btrfs on my file server since 2.6.32 and after upgrading to .33 I noticed that rebalancing took way longer than before.
I have a 5 disk array used for a btrfs md setup, different hard drive sizes, brands, and interfaces.
The last time I rebalanced I was using about 800GB of space on the 4.6TB array, and I started before I went to sleep and it was done when I

imap - mailbox in an inconsistant state
Can anyone help me with this issue?
The CEO of our company keeps getting IMAP time out errors and "mailbox is in

There are errors on the server side. This is what it says:

--link-dest but only if rsync detects differences
I'm currently using rsync and --link-dest to give me something like a
poor-man's incremental snapshot to disk. But I really only want to generate
a new backup if rsync detects differences, otherwise I don't need a new
backup.
Currently I do something like this:
rsync -a --delete --link-dest=../backup.previous/ source/ backup.next/
diff -r backup.previous backup.next && rm

Dear R - help,
I am working on the Credit scorecard model. I am using the Logistic regression to arrive at the regression coefficients model.
I want to use the Hosmer - Lemeshow test .

R bug in cluster package (PR#1580)
I have apparently found an error in the "pam" function of the "cluster"
library package. Please pardon me if this error has been pointed out or
if this e-mail should be directed to someone else.
The problem only started occurring with R version 1.5.0, which I started
using about a week ago. The problem occurs when you try to use "pam"

Hello all,
I am wondering if it would be possible to write a script or a cronjob in
linux using Rsync to run an automated backup of a server, or serveral

Death of dyndns
I'm running two servers, one with a fixed IP address
and the other with a dynamic address.
This is probably a very ignorant question,
but what does dyndns do that I could not do myself?

ssh -vvv
Hello All,
I just had an interesting experience tracking down a bug on Solaris 8, and ssh -vvv was of no help which is part of the reason why I write this email.
When DSA public/private keys fail to authenticate me without a password, it just falls thru to the next authentication type and I can't see a way to see why it happened.
The extra debug levels don't tell me "Hey you idiot,

Vanishing work group on samba 2.2.8
Hello
I have a small problem which I hope you can help with.
We are running samba 2.2.8a on a V880 using Solaris 9. Up until today there were, as far as we know, no problems with the service.
Today a change was done to add 6 additional shares to the system. This was done by editing the configuration file and issuing a kill -HUP to the samba service.
All appeared to be OK until access was
