[PATCH RFC REPOST 1/2] paravirt: refactor struct paravirt_ops into smaller pv_*_ops
[ I think this is a straight repost this patch, which addresses all the
previous comments. I'd like to submit this for .24 as the basis for a
unified paravirt_ops. Any objections? ]
This patch refactors the paravirt_ops structure into groups of
functionally related ops:
pv_info - random info, rather than function entrypoints
pv_init_ops - functions used at boot time (some for module_init

[PATCH RFC] first cut at splitting up paravirt_ops
Here's a first attempt at splitting up paravirt_ops into more specific
chunks. Its pretty clunky and chunky; mostly just a lot of
replacement. The grouping of ops is very first cut; I'm open to
suggestions about what groups should exist and what ops they each should
contain.
The only slightly subtle part is that I've kept the structures wrapped
in a paravirt_ops structure,

[PATCH 03/13] x86/paravirt: Convert native patch assembly code strings to macros
Convert the hard-coded native patch assembly code strings to macros to
facilitate sharing common code between 32-bit and 64-bit.
These macros will also be used by a future patch which requires the GCC
extended asm syntax of two '%' characters instead of one when specifying
a register name.

[PATCH 04/13] x86/paravirt: Convert DEF_NATIVE macro to GCC extended asm syntax
In a future patch, the NATIVE_* instruction string macros will be used
in GCC extended inline asm, which requires registers to have two '%'
instead of one in the asm template string. Convert the DEF_NATIVE macro
to the GCC extended asm syntax so the NATIVE_* macros can be shared more
broadly.

[PATCH 04/10] x86/paravirt: use a single ops structure
Instead of using six globally visible paravirt ops structures combine
them in a single structure, keeping the original structures as
sub-structures.
This avoids the need to assemble struct paravirt_patch_template at
runtime on the stack each time apply_paravirt() is being called (i.e.
when loading a module).

[PATCH] x86_64 paravirt_ops port
Hi all,
I've been working on a port of paravirt_ops for the x86_64 architectures
for a couple of days. Here's the result so far. I'm posting it soon for
early cooments. The more, the better.
It's obviously based on the previous work for i386, with the needed
modifications. By now, I'm able to boot a bare metal kernel, but there
are still some known issues, that are in my TODO

[PATCH] x86/paravirt: Drop {read,write}_cr8() hooks
There is a lot of infrastructure for functionality which is used
exclusively in __{save,restore}_processor_state() on the suspend/resume
path.
cr8 is an alias of APIC_TASKPRI, and APIC_TASKPRI is saved/restored
independently by lapic_{suspend,resume}().
Delete the saving and restoration of cr8, which allows for the removal
of both PVOPS.
