no bullets in wordpad
Neither in the wordpad that comes with wine nor in the original one I get these bullets (similiar to enumeration).
Anyone any idea why?

How many votes would Trados need to get into support
Hi!
How I am seeing it, the cat is biting the tail. Translators are not to technical savy and most of them will never be able to debug anything. They will not be using Wine until the software is really working on it and Mac users are not bothered, they use parallel.
I could start a list with the translators I know are using Linux and just dual booting for Trados. Now to get some votes, I would

xts indexed with Date class
Hi
I see a changed behaviour in xts indexed on class Date in the latest
versions, versus 2.
It seems to be related to changes to/from daylight savings time,
happens those weekends.
Is it not intended that class Date be used like this, or is this new
behaviour incorrect?
Giles
Example:
> a<-as.Date(15423:15426)
> x<-xts(seq_along(a),a)
> print(x)

+ c("Fred", "Mary", 9), c("Barney", "Liz", 3),
+ c("Barney", "Liz", 5) )

Replacing for loop with tapply!?
Dear all,
We have a large data set with temperature data for weather stations
across the globe (15000 stations).
For each station, we need to calculate the number of days a certain
temperature is exceeded.
So far we used the following S code, where mat88 is a matrix containing
rows of 365 daily temperatures for each of 15000 weather stations:
m <- 37
n <- 2
outmat88 <- matrix(0,

Listing function
Hallo,
I build a list by the following way:
Lst = list(name="Fred", wife="Mary", no.children=3, cild.ages=c(4,7,9))
I know how I can extract the information one by one. But now I want to
add a new entry which looks like
name="Barney", wife="Liz", no.children=2, cild.ages=c(3,5)
How can I add this information to Lst without overwriting the first
entry?

Seeking help with Samba shares & OPLOCKS & Quickbooks databases
I thought I had things figured out, but guess not. I have multi-user
Quickbooks databases that functioned fine on a Novell server but are
behaving badly on a Samba share. I have created a separate share for the
Quickbook databases, users are running Win XP Pro, latest patches, and the
Quickbooks application installed on the desktop. It is a multiuser version.
Server is RedHat ES 3, Samba

error using lapply with oneway_test (coin package)
Dear expeRts,
I would like to use a oneway_test (from package coin) to test whether
two groups differ on various variables. The variables are encoded
within a data frame. Unfortunately, I obtained an error, that I don't
understand. Could you please help me ?
Example:
library(coin)
y <- as.data.frame(matrix(rnorm(200), ncol=2))
group <- as.factor(unif(100))

function optimization: reducing the computing time
Dear useRs,
I have written a function that implements a Bayesian method to
compare a patient's score on two tasks with that of a small control
group, as described in Crawford, J. and Garthwaite, P. (2007).

as expected when used outside the global function :
