Can this be done with NUT? (ordered shutdown, revisited)
Good morning everyone, we're currently in the process of redesigning our UPS signalling scheme, and decided to have a closer look at NUT. This is our setup: - a (really) big UPS (Piller, with a web/SNMP interface) - several computer rooms with equipment of different importance, managed by several people not sharing ssh keys etc., with an unknown number of machines - IPMI signalling to

access objects
hi, say I have consecutively numbered objects obj1, obj2, ... in my R workspace. I want to acces one of them inside a function, with the number given as an argument. Where can I find help on how to do that? Somebody must have been trying to do this before... Some keywords to start a search are appreciated as well. Here's an example, I hope it clarifies what I'm trying to do: obj1 <-

splitting clusters
Hi All: I am clustering 500 genes using hclust of R. Visualizing cluster membership becomes difficult with so many genes in each cluster...Is there a way of printing the dendrogram in multiple pages so that I can clearly see what is in each cluster? Thanks in advance. Karthi.

Speex mailing list migrating to xiph.org
Hello Speex list members, The Speex Project is moving into space here on Xiph.Org's servers, and among other things, we're taking over running the mailing list. The new address for Speex mail is 'speex-dev@xiph.org'. All the members of the current list are already added to the new speex-dev list. An online searchable mailing list archive is at http://www.xiph.org/archives/speex/

pre/post vm start commands
Hi there, for development i use a windows vm. which is installed into a disk image. because the compiler generates a lot of temporary files into the user tempdir (C:\\Documents And Users\\User\\Local Settings\\Temp) the vm becomes quite slow after a couple of weeks and i register a lot activity on the disk. so i moved the temp directory to a ram disk and no more problems. but because the ram

how to use multiple UPS with timers
Hi, I need to shut down a VMWare host if both connected UPS are x minutes on battery. Both UPS are connected via SNMP. Because there are multiple vm running on that host, shutting every vm down takes some time. So most likely, waiting for low battery, the time left won't be enough. I tried overwriting the settings for low battery but that didn't work. Are timers the only possible

Openssh 2.2.0p1 portable Makefile
Hi, I'm not subbed, but I was just building OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 on Solaris 8 and I noticed that the compile failed because $(AR) was not defined in Makefile. Setting AR=/usr/xpg4/bin/ar in Makefile made it compile without a hitch. My configure flags were --with-ipv4-default. Thanks for an otherwise excellent program. Nathaniel Couper-Noles

decrypt.rb
Per the Dovecot site here: https://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailCrypt ... the "decrypt.rb" ruby script can be used to decrypt a Dovecot-encrypted message file from the command line.? The script sort of runs successfully for me, in the sense that it doesn't error out, but it doesn't show the decrypted message. I've called it like so: decrypt.rb -k

Roaming profiles issues
This might be simple, but I have been banging my head against google for awhile now and not an answer in sight... Anyway, Samba PDC with roaming profiles. When a user logs out the profile isn't written because it says that "The specified network name is no longer available" Whatever that is supposed to mean. Following is my smb.conf. SAX Parser best practise
Dear All, I have a question regarding best practise in setting up a XML parser within R. Because I have files with more than 100 MB and I'm only interested in some values I think a SAX-like parser using xmlEventParse() will be the best solution. Unfortunately the values I'm looking for, to construct some higher "mass spectrum", are distributed over different lines: as

POP3 dictionary attacks
I'm seeing strings of failed POP3 login attempts with obvious bogus usernames coming from different IP addresses. Today's originated from 216.31.146.19 (which resolves to neovisionlabs.com). This looks like a botnet attack. I got a similar probe a couple days ago. Is anyone else seeing these? The attack involves trying about 20 different names, about 3-4 seconds apart. Here's a
